Town HistoryEvery county of course is made up of many towns and villages, but they are all unique in how they were formed and what they have become known for. This is in part due to who settled in these areas as much as the geography of each place. Irondequoit and Greece were vast areas of farm land before they became the first suburbs of the City of Rochester. Fairport once a distant village from the city developed into a thriving community and is now one of it's premier suburbs. Carthage was a settlement by the lower falls of the Genesee River, where is it today? These and other towns that make up Monroe County are presented here in an effort to know more about them as they are what Monroe County is today.
