Take Hwy 12 southeast out of Orofino for about 7 miles, turn left into Greer and continue onto State Hwy 11 east through Fraser and Weippe where the road heads northeast, for a total of 29 miles from Greer. Driving north on the Main Street in Pierce, turn right onto Cemetery Road, and continue up the hill, cemetery will be on your left as the road curves and dead ends at the cemetery.

This cemetery is owned and maintained by the Pierce Cemetery District, under a board of directors for Clearwater County, Idaho. The cemetery is still being used for burials and is very well maintained.

The land for this cemetery was donated by the Gaffney family to the Pierce Cemetery District. The Gaffneys were the founders of the town of Pierce. Due to a period of poor record keeping, I could not obtain a date for when the cemetery was established.

If anyone knows of a burial here that I found no stone for and have proof, I would be willing to consider adding them to this work. It was obvious that there are many unmarked gravesites.

I have transcribed from headstone readings only, which were taken when I visited this cemetery on Jul 01, 2007 using my digital camera, thus I have a photo of each existing stone or marker. On Aug 09, 2008 I compared my readings with Pierce Cemetery records of Clearwater County in the Idaho Historical Library in Boise. Additions from this record are followed by an * asterisk. I cannot vouch for their accuracy.
