Chesaw, Okanogan County, Washington

Lat: 48° 55' 48"N, Lon: 119° 03' 15"W

Chesaw Cemetery lies one mile south of Chesaw on Lost Lake Road on the right side of the road.

Chesaw lies 20 miles east of Oroville and only a few miles south of the Canadian Border with no border crossing, about 2,900 ft above sea level, yet it is down in a valley. You will find no gas station in the town of 15 residents, who are known for their annual rodeo every July 4th, for the last 58 years, attended by people worldwide.

This cemetery is owned by the town of Chesaw and fairly well maintained, usually by family of the deceased and community planned workdays. I still have not found out who is the sexton.
Included are listings found in Okanogan County Cemetery Records, pub. 1991 by OCGS, Omak WA. An asterisk * is placed at the end of each entry from these records, which means I either missed it or no headstone exists. At the end are three listings for people whose gravesite I did not find, but they died reportedly in Chesaw.

I walked and read this cemetery Jun 25, 2000. I have digital headstone photos of most of the existing stones and markers at that time.
