Unto the poore of the said parish 40 shillings to be payd unto the Minister & Church Wardens & then by them distributed
& whereas a jointure for Marie my beloved wife hath not been yet setled my expresse will now is that my executor shall pay unto her quarterly during the terme of her life 5 poundes good money of England att or upon the landes which are named for her Jointure in certaine Articles whereto I have formerly put my hand & seale ...
Also the use of all my lynnen during the terme of her life, then after her decease the same unto Anne Maynard my daughter
Unto Francis Maynard my eldest daughter 100 poundes to bee payd to her at her age of 21 by Richard my sonne
Unto Anne my youngest daughter 100 poundes to be payd to her by Richard my sonne
... after hee [son Richard] shall come into the possession of all those landes which have bin named for the jointure or dowry of his mother - my landes lying in Brenchley, I give & bequesth the same with all howssing thereon to the said Richard my sonne
but if it should happen the said Richard my sonne together with both my two daughters to depart this life under age (which God forbidd) then I give & bequeath unto William Maynard sonne of my brother Richard my present mansion house with all the landes that bee situate on this side the three towards Brenchleytowne which three passeth by the gate of the said howse, provided that hee the said William shall paye 100 poundes to Ann his sister & 50 poundes to Francis the daughter of my sister Woodgate;
as for my landes, should all my children die, I give these to John the sonne of my said sister Woodgate.
Any goods Chattels not devised I give unto Francis Maynard my good mother, which said Francis I doe make sole executrix of this my will
I doe make my 2 brothers in law Edward Woodgate of Brenchley & Robert Allen of Mayfield, Sussex, overseers of this my last will & give them 10 shillings each

Unto my said wife all the rents issues & proffitts of my messuage lands & tenements being in the parish of Mayfield, Sussex, commonly called Pennybridge Farm, untill such time as my said sonne shall attain his age of 21 ... with the money arising out of my personall estate doe educate & maintaine in all things fitting for children of their ranke & quality my said sonne untill hee attaine that age & alsoe my daughter Elizabeth untill she attaine the full age of 18 years ... I give to my said daughter Elizabeth all the residue of the said rents issues & proffitts ... to amount to 400 pounds
To my said wife Mercy my goods chattles & personall estate & if my estate should be considerable, then instead of 400, 500 pounds to my said daughter Elizabeth

Memorandum that Robert Pierson late of Brenchley in the Countie of Kent Husbandman being sick in bodie but of good & perfect mind & memorie with an intent to make his will & to settle his estate did on or about the 13th day of October 1655 utter & declare these words following or the like in effect viz. The little which it hath pleased God to bestowe upon me I leave unto my wife for the bringing up & educating of my child And I make her my executrix. And if my wife now be with child of another Then I will that child shalbe provided for in like manner as th�other. Which wordes or the like in effect were uttered & declared in manner & forme aforesaid in the presence of & hearing of Elizabeth his wife, _ Willm Charie & John Bowles.
