ITEM Whereas before my marrying with my now loving wife Sarah I made unto her a Joynture in Certaine Lands in Reculver in the County of Kent, I will that she shall hold and enjoy the same according to the tenor, true intent and meaning of the said Joynture.
ITEM I give and bequeath unto my said loving wife Sarah one peece of plate of the value of five pounds of lawfull money of England and also four payre of sheetes and all the furniture of the Chamber over the Shop of my now Dwelling house, Except onely the presse of plate and Linnen there.
ITEM I give and bequeath unto my loving daughter Elizabeth Nayer the Sume of one hundred and Sixty
pounds of lawfull money of England to be payed unto her by my Executor hereafter named at her age of one
and twenty yeares or Day of Marriage which shall first happen.
And my will is untill the said sume of One hundred and Sixty pounds shall be payed unto my said daughter
Elizabeth my Executor hereafter named shall yearly pay unto her for her maintenance and education the yearly
sume of nine pounds and twelve shillings of lawfull money of England Att the Feasts of St. Michaell the Archangel,
the Birth of our Lord Christ, the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary And the Nativity of St. John the Baptist
in every yeare and equall portons.
ITEM I give and devise unto my Loving Son William and to his heires and assignes forever my messuage wherein I now dwell Situate and being in the Parish of St. Andrew the Apostle in the City of Canterbury, Charged and Chargeable neverthelesse with the payment of all my Debts and Legacys.
ITEM I give and bequeath unto my loving Daughter Sarah Nayer the full sume of one hundred pounds of
Lawfull money of England in full satisfaction of all such sumes of money as I am by bond or other formily
obliged to pay unto her, to be payed unto her at her age of one and twenty years or Day of Marriage which
shall first happen.
And my will is That untill the said One Hundred pounds shall be payed unto my said
Daughter Sarah That my Said Executor shall yearly pay or cause to be payed unto my said loving wife if she
shall soe long live but if she shall Dye before then, unto my said Daughter Sarah for her education and
Maintenance the yearly sume of six pounds of Lawfull money England at the Feasts aforesaid. The first
payment to be made at such of the said Feasts as shall happen next after my Decease
provided allways and my will and meaning is That if my said loving wife or Daughter Sarah Shall not upon
request by my said Executor to be made unto my Said loving wife or if she shall be then living or unto my
Said Daughter Sarah if my said wife shall be then Dead Deliver or cause or procure to be delivered unto my
said Executor to be by him controlled Two Bonds by one of which I am bound to pay unto my said Daughter
Sarah five and twenty pounds or some such sume and by the other I am bound to pay unto my said Daughter
Sarah fifteene pounds or some such sume then the Legacy I have before given to my said Daughter Sarah shall
cease, determine and be utterly voyd.
And then I give and bequeath unto my said Daughter Sarah the Sume of Ten pounds of lawfull money of
England onely To be payed unto her at from said age of one and twenty years or Day of Marriage which shall
first happen.
Provided alsoe that if my said Daughter Sarah shall happen to dye before the said Legacy of One hundred
pounds shall become due and payable and my said Loving Wife shall happen to survive my said loving
Daughter Sarah And if my said loving wife shall deliver or procure to be delivered unto my said Executor to be
by him Controlled the said Two Bonds then I give and bequeath unto my said loving wife the said legacy of one
hundred pounds before given to my said Daughter Sarah To be payed unto her within one month next after the
Death of my said Daughter Sarah
ITEM I give and bequeath unto my daughter Amy the sume of One Hundred pounds of lawfull money of
England to be payed unto her at her age of One and Twenty years or Day of Marriage on which shall first happen.
And untill the said sume of One hundred pounds shall be payed unto my sayed Daughter Amy My will
and meaning is That my said Executor shall yearly pay or cause to be payed unto my said Dearest and Loving
Wife if she shall soe long live but if she shall dye before then unto my said Daughter Amy for and towards her
maintenance and education the yearly sume of six pounds of lawfull money of England at the feasts aforesaid
by equall porcons, The first payment thereof to begin and be made at that feast of the feasts aforesaid which
shall first happen next after my Decease.
ITEM I give and bequeath unto my Loving Daughter Mary the sume of one hundred and sixty pounds of lawfull
money of England to be payed unto her by my said Executor immediately after my decease
provided allways that if either of both of my said Daughters Elizabeth or Amy shall happen to Dye before her or
their legacy or Legacys hereby bequeathed unto her or them, shall become due, then my will is And I doe give
and bequeath the Legacy or Legacys of her or them soe dying unto my said Son William.
ITEM whereas I owe my said Son William fifty pounds I will that he shall detayne out of my Stocke of Plate
which I value to amount to five hundred and fifty pounds soe much as to satisfy himselfe the same.
ITEM I give him my said Son William more the sume of one hundred pounds.
ITEM I give unto my Said daughter Mary one of my biggest pewter dishes.
ITEM I give unto my said Daughter Elizabeth one of my biggest pewter dishes.
ITEM All the residue of my goods. Chattells, Mortgages,Bonds, working tooles and personall estate whatsoever my Debts,Legacys, Funerall expenses and the probate of this my will being first payd, I give and bequeath unto my said Son William whom I make and ordaine the sole Executor of this my Will and Testament and my will is that my Said Son shall in one month next after my decease give bonds severally and respectively to my said children, Elizabeth, Sarah and Amy to pay unto them the severall and respective legacys which I have before given and bequeathed unto them according to the true intent and meaning of this my will.
ITEM I give and bequeath unto my daughters Mary and Elizabeth equally betweene them and their heires my messuage now? in the occupacon of John Bridges decease situate in Memory Lane in the said Parish of St. Andrew the Apostle in the City of Canterbury.
IN WITNESS whereof I the said William Nayer als Ayre have to this my last Will and Testament contayned in
three sheets of paper to every of the said sheets sett my hand and to the topp of the first, annexed my seale this
third Day of January in the Year Of Our Lord one thousand six hundred and eighty one. Sealed, Signed,
published and declared by the said William Nayer the testator to be his last will and testament in the presence
whose names are subscribed as in the presence of the said testator.
