Nethersole, Elizabeth, Mary & Alice, my daughters £100 each when 21 or on day of marriage
Nethersole, Christopher my son £300 when 21 & my gold ring which was his uncle Christophers (Nethersole, Christopher my brother dec’d)
Nethersole, William my son £300 when 21 & remainders(?)
Nethersole, Elizabeth my wife – all the residue of my personal estate, except the long table in the hall, my copper brewing
vessels, the press in my own lodging chamber & all my armour & furniture for war
Nethersole, Vincent my eldest son to have the above excepted items when 24
Nethersole, John & William my brethren & Denn, Thomas my brother-in-law (my wife’s brother) to be my overseers & give them 20s each
My wife to act as executrix only for the funeral arrangements;
the overseers to do the rest & to prepare a bond of £1800 to her use which ensures that she clears all my debts – or her
husband does if she remarries – and if she refuses she gets no benefits at all
Disposition of lands & properties:
these to descend though the eldest son (Vincent) & his heirs (if any)
and if he pre-deceases the age of 24 without heirs then in turn to the next eldest son and so on;
if Christopher inherits he must pay my son William £300 (although the relationship between
brethren is here not explicitly clear, except that Vincent is eldest: it is implicit that Christopher is older than William)
my wife to have the ordering, setting & letting of my lands etc until one of my sons inherits.
