In the name of God Amen The five and Twentie day of Aprill in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred twentie six and in the first yeare of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles by the grace of God of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, Kinge, Defender of the Faith, etc.
I Stephen Newman th[e ]elder of Ashe neere Sandwich in the County of Kent Yeoman doe make this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following
First I bequeath my Soule to Almighty God in sure and certayne hope of resurrection to eternall life through the merits of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and redeemer, and my body to bee buried in the Churchyarde of the p[ar]ishe of Ashe aforesaid

And next of all my will and meaning is, that out of such goods, Cattell, Corne, Graine or other Goods whatsoever the lord hath blessed me w[i]thall, satisfaction bee made to all my Creditors, and all my debts discharged, And the remaynder of my goods I thus dispose

Item I will and bequeath to Stephen Newman my eldest sonne foure pounds to be paid unto him w[i]thin three quarters of a yeare after my decease by mine executor or his assignes
Item I give unto Joane Newman my eldest daughter foure pounds to be paid unto her by my Executor wth [within] the space of 6 monthes after my decease
Alsoe I give unto Elizabeth Newman my second daughter the some of iiij Li [£4] to be paid unto her wthin 6 monthes or 3 quarters of a yeare after my decease
Alsoe I give unto Mary Newman my youngest daughter the some also of fowre pounds to bee paid unto her at the age of one and twentie yeares

And all the rest of my goods of what kinde soe ever I doe give and bequeath unto Edward Newman my youngest sonne, whome I make choice of and doe appoynt my sole and only executor of this my last will and Testament, and to be myne Overseer, I request my landlord Mr. Walter Harflett

Note: Steven Newnham, householder was buried at St. Nicholas, Ash on 27th April 1626.
