Will of Henry Nordish

of Meopham, Kent

This is the last Will and Testament of me Henry Nordish of Meopham in the County of Kent Horse Dealer

first I will and direct that all my just debts funeral expences and the charges of proving and otherwise relating to this my Will shall be fully paid and satisfied

And I direct limit appoint give and devise all my messuage or tenement and butchers Shop with the lands yards gardens and appurtenances situate at Offham in the said County and all other my real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto and to the use of my Nephew Thomas Nordish of Meopham aforesaid Horse Dealer his heirs and assigns for ever

Also I give and bequeath unto my brother in law Philip Buggs the elder of Meopham aforesaid Farmer the sum of ten pounds and forgive him all the debts which he may owe me at the time of my decease
Also I give and bequeath unto Mary Buggs Thomas Buggs Philip Buggs the younger and Sarah the Wife of Edward Coombes of Northfleet in the said County Farmer the four Children of the said Philip Buggs the elder the sum of ten pounds apiece

Also I give and bequeath unto my niece Mary the Wife of John Reeves of Meopham aforesaid farmer the sum of ten pounds
Also I give and bequeath unto my niece Ann the Wife of John Poltick of Meopham aforesaid Butcher the sum of ten pounds
Also I give and bequeath unto my nephew Henry Nordish of Meopham aforesaid Butcher the sum of ten pounds
Also I give and bequeath unto my nephew John Nordish of Meopham aforesaid Labourer the sum of ten pounds
and my will is and I do direct that the said several legacies shall be paid (without interest) within six calendar months next after the decease of Ann Nordish the widow of my brother Thomas Nordish late of Ash in the said County Farmer in case she shall survive me
and in case she shall die in my lifetime that the same legacies shall be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease

and that my nephew the said Thomas Nordish shall be at liberty to retain the said several legacies in his own hands until the same shall become payable under this my Will and shall not be compelled or compellable to invest the same or any part thereof in the funds or in or upon any other security or securities

and I do hereby direct that the said several legacies hereinbefore bequeathed to the said Sarah Coombs Mary Reeves and Ann Poltick shall be for their own separate use free from and independent of their present or any future husbands and that the receipt of the said Sarah Coombs Mary Reeves and Ann Poltick alone notwithstanding their present or any future coverture shall be sufficient discharge for their said respective legacies

and that the legacy hereinbefore bequeathed to the said Henry Nordish shall not be liable to the payment of any debts already or hereafter to be contracted by him but shall be paid into his own hands and that his receipt alone notwithstanding his late or any future bankruptcy or insolvency shall be a sufficient discharge for the same

and all the rest and residue of my Real and Personal Estate of what nature or kind soever I give devise and bequeath unto and to the use of my Nephew Thomas Nordish his heirs executors administrators and assigns absolutely
and do appoint the said Thomas Nordish (the nephew) sole Executor of this my Will and do hereby revoke all former Wills Codicils and Testaments by me made

In Witness whereof I the said Henry Nordish the Testator (have to the first sheet of this my Will contained in two sheets of paper)set my hand and to this last sheet my hand and seal the twenty ninth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one Henry Nordish
