This is the last Will and Testament of me William Ockman of the Town and Borough of Deal in the County of Kent, Esquire, made this ninth day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and thirty eight And in the twelfth year of the Reign of our Soveraign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Kling, Defender of the Faith as Followeth (that is to say)
First and principally I commend my soule into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping to obtain full and free pardon and Remission of all my Sins and to enjoy eternal Life and Happiness in his heavenly Kingdom through the only Meritts, Death and passion of my only saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ,
my mortal Body I commit to the Earth in hope of a joyfull Resurrection, desiring that the same may be decently interred in the Chancel of the parish Church of Coldred in the said County of Kent in the same Grave with my late Wife

Item I give bequeath and devise All that my Mansion House together with the Stable Yards Outhouses Gardens and premises with the appurtenances to the same belonging and appertaining situate lying and being in the said Town and Borough of Deal in the said County of Kent and now in my own Occupation unto John Harvey of the parish of Tilmanstone in the said County Esquire his heirs and Assigns for ever
Except the free Liberty use and priviledge of all the same premises which I do hereby give unto my now Maid Servant Sarah Cook for the space of Six Months next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto my said Servant Sarah Cook her Executors Administrators and Assigns All that my Leasehold Tenement or dwelling house Batholde and premises with the appertenences [appurtenances] situate lying and being in Lower Deal within the said Town and Borough of Deal (being part of his Grace the Lord Archbishop of Canterbury's Waste) abutting to the Sea there towards the East to the Beach Street there towards the West and South and to the Tenement demised to John Bridges and Sarah his Wife towards the North, late in the Occupation of Amy Littlewood and Lawrence Boys, and now one part thereof in the Occupation of the said Lawrence Boys and the other untenanted, together with the Benefit and Advantage of renewing the said Lease

Item I give and bequeath unto the said Sarah Cook All the furniture and Household Goods wherewith the two fore parlours of my aforesaid Mansion house and the two Chambers over the said two parlours shall be furnished at the Time of my death
Item I give unto the said Sarah Cook one half part of all my Sheets, table Cloathes, Napkins, Towells and of all other my Household Linnen whatsoever and also one half part of all the Household goods and furniture wherewith the Kitchen of my said dwelling house shall be furnished at the Time of my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto the said Sarah Cook the Sum of one hundred pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid her by my Executor hereafter named

Item all the rest and Residue of my real and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what kind or Nature soever (from and after the payment of all my Debts, Legacies, funeral Expences, probate of this my Will and Testament and all other incident Charges touching the Execution thereof) I give and bequeath unto George Pilcher of the Town and Borough of Dover in the said County, Brewer, his heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns

And Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint the said George Pilcher sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former and other Wills by me heretofore made

In Witness whereof I the said William Ockman to this my last Will and Testament contained in two Sheets of paper to the first Sheet thereof have set my hand And to the second have set my hand and seal the Day and Year first abovewritten

Signed sealed published and declared by the said William Ockman the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of Us who at his request and in his presence have subscribed our Names as Witnesses

The within written Will of William Ockman deceased having &c. goods &c was proved the 18th Day of July 1740 before the Revd. William Coothing, Clerk, lawfull Surrogate of the Worshipfull Thomas Tenison, Doctor of Laws, Commissary General of the City and Diocese of (Canterbury); lawfully constituted And Adm[inistrati]on of the said deceased's goods, so far as concerned, the said deceased and his Will was committed to George Pilcher, sole Executor therein named, he being first sworn duly to Execute the same

Captain William Ockman was buried at St. Pancras, Coldred, Kent on 9th July 1740.
Mr. William Ockman 24, mariner of Deal & Mrs. Mary Pilcher 30 married 2 Feb 1693/4 at Sibbertswold
John son of Wm & Mary Ockman was baptised 31 Mar 1695 at Deal, St Leonard and buried 1 Apr 1695
Stephen son of Wm & Mary Ockman was baptised 6 Dec 1698 at Deal, St Leonard.
William Ockman was baptised 5th September 1704, s. of William and Mary Ockman, at St. Leonard, Deal (died 1704)
Sarah daughter of Mr. William & Mary Of Deal was buried 11 Feb 1706/7 at Coldred. (Bapt. 12 Jan 1702 in Deal)
Mary daughter of Captain William & Mary Ockman was buried 7 Aug 1708 at Coldred.
His wife is also buried at Coldred, as follows: "Mrs. Ockman, wife of Captain Ockman of Deal buried July 22nd 1732."
