I William Oldfeild of Ewell in the County of Kent Yeoman sicke and weake of Bodie but of Sounde and perfect memorie (praised be God therefore) doe make and ordaine this my last Will & testament in manner and forme followinge (that is to say)

First I will and bequeath unto my welbeloved Wife Richarden my house and all my landes with their appurtenances in the parish of Ewell aforesaid dureinge the terme of her naturall life in full Satisfaccon and recompence of one hundred pounds I stand bound by bond to her brother Thomas Parker to leave her

Provided alwaies and my Will and meaninge is That if my said wife shall renounce or Wave the Executorshipp of this my Will and Stand to the said One hundred pounds That then shee shall have noe benefitt by this my will or any other or greater portion out of my estate either reall or personall then the said 100l [£100]

And my will is That if shee accept of my said house and landes dureinge her life That then shee shall keepe my said houses in good repaire, and shall pay the Quitrents for the same yearlie as they shall growe due And shall not doe or comitt any Wast upon the premisses

And after the decease of my said wife I doe hereby will and give the same houses and landes with their appurtenances unto my Sonne William Oldfeild and his heires forever
Item I doe will & give unto my Grand children Rebecca and Joane Oldfeild the Sume of Fifteen poundes a peece To be paid within twoe yeares next after my decease by my Executrix

And of this my last will and Testament I doe make and ordaine my said wife my full an sole Executrix, and doe Will and appoint all my debs to be paid
And after all my debtes are paid all the residue of my estate (the said Legacies and my Funerall expences beinge alsoe paid and discharged) I Will and give to my twoe daughters Marie and Martha to be equally devided betweene them

And if my said personall estate, my debtes Legacies and funerall expences beinge paid and discharged shall amount to above Three hundred pounds Then I will and give unto my said grandchildren Rebecca and Joane the summe of Five poundes a peece more to be paid by my Executrix

And my will and meaninge is that my wife shall have the benefitt of my said daughters portions towards their maintenance and educaccon untill they shall attaine their Severall ages of twentie one yeares or be married And alsoe shall allowe her Sonne William Oldfeild Sufficient maintenance and education And at my said daughters ages of twentie one yeares or dayes of marriage which shall first happen, shall pay them their said porcons

And if my said wife shall marrie againe, and shall not before her marriage againe putt in sufficient Securitye to my Loveinge freindes Isaack Adams of East Langdon and William Streatfold of Dover for the true paym[en]t of my said daughters portions accordinge to this my Will, That then shee shall loose her Executorshipp and shall have noe benefitt by this my Will
And in such case I make my sonne William Oldfeild my full and sole Executor of this my will, and he to doe nothinge without the advise and assistance of my Overseers hereunder named

And I doe hereby nominate and make my said Loveinge freindes Isaack Adams and William Streatfold Overseers of this my last will and Testament desireinge them to be aydeinge & assisting unto my said Wife and Sonne in the due execuccon thereof

In Wittnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and Seale dated the sixe and twentieth day of Aprill in the yeare of our Lord Christ one thousand sixe hundred fiftye and eight

And further I doe hereby will and give unto my said wife all the household stuffe shee bringeth me in marriage and my best bedd and bedsteddle furnished, and one good cowe. And even soe I conclude this my Will the day and yeare abovesaid

This will was proved At London the foureth day of August in the yeare of our Lord God one Thousand Sixe hundred fiftye eight Before the Judges for probate of Wills and grantinge administracons Lawfullie authorized By the oathe of William Oldfeild the sonne and Executor named in the said Will To whome was com[mi]tted administracon of all and Singuler the goods chattells and debtes of the said deceased he being first Sworne by Commission truely to administer etc. Exd.

Notes:
William Oldfield married Richarden Eaton on 2nd November 1648 at St. Andrew, Buckland-next-Dover, Kent. Both were given as “of Ewell”.
Due to the Commonwealth, burials and baptisms of children of this marriage have not been found.
William son of William Oldfeeld was baptised 24 Oct 1613 at Temple Ewell.
William Oldfeild of Ewell, clothier, with the consent of his father, William Oldfeild, and Joan Reader of Ulcombe, virgin about 21, whose mother consents, as William Oldfeild the elder testifies. At Ulcombe. Jan. 15, 1637 [Canterbury Licence]
William Oldfeild of Ewell, yeoman, widr., and Joan Reader of Ulcombe, w. of William Reader late same place dec. At Ulcombe or Langley. Oct 13, 1640 [Canterbury Licence]
Rebecca was baptised 17th May 1643 at SS Peter & Paul, Temple Ewell, d. of William Oldfeild Junior.
