This is the last Will and Testament of me Joseph Oldfield of Ramsgate in the Isle of Thanet in the County of Kent Gentleman made this twenty fourth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two as follows (that is to say)
First I direct all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences to be paid by my executor hereinafter named out of my personal estate

And I give and bequeath all my real and personal estate unto John White of Ramsgate aforesaid Upholsterer his heirs executors administrators and assigns according to the nature and quality thereof respectively
Upon trust to sell my real estate together or in parcels by public auction or private contract and to convert and get in my personal estate and to invest the monies to arise from such real and personal estate in or upon any of the public funds or securities of the United Kingdom or any real securities in England with liberty to vary and transpose the investment from time to time for any other investment of the description aforesaid

And Upon trust to permit and empower my Wife Mary Oldfield to receive the annual income of the said monies and the stocks funds and securities whereon the same shall be invested during her life
And after her death I give and bequeath the same monies stocks funds and securities unto the said John White his executors administrators and assigns absolutely

Subject nevertheless and charged and chargeable with an annuity or yearly sum of twenty pounds to his brother Herbert White of the City of Canterbury Hair Dresser during the term of his life payable by equal quarterly payments, the first quarterly payment to be made on the first usual quarter day after the decease of my said Wife

And I declare that no Sale of my real estate or any part thereof shall be made in the lifetime of my said Wife without her previous consent in writing
And that my trustee shall have a discretionary power to postpone for such period as to him shall seem expedient the conversion or getting in of any part of my residuary personal estate which shall at my decease consist of stocks funds or securities of any description whatever but the unsold real estate and outstanding personal estate shall be subject to the trusts hereinbefore contained concerning the monies stocks funds and securities aforesaid And I devise all real estates (if any) vested in me as trustee or mortgagee to the said John White subject to the equities affecting the same respectively

And I empower the trustees or trustee for the time being of this my Will to give receipts for all monies to be paid to such trustees or trustee by virtue of my Will and declare that such receipts shall exonerate the person taking the same from liability to see to the application or disposition of the money therein mentioned

And I appoint the said John White sole Executor of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me made
In Witness whereof I the said Joseph Oldfield the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained in two sheets of paper annexed together hereunto set my hand the day and year aforesaid

Proved at London the 20th Jun 1854 before the Worshipful Samuel Jewkes Wainbey, Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the oath of John White the sole executor to whom adm[inistrati]on was granted having been first sworn duly to administer.
