In the Name of God Amen September the 14th 1703 I Thomas Pegden Tanner living at this present time with my Cousin Thomas Mercer of Meopham in the County of Kent being sickly and weak in body but of perfect and sound disposing mind and memory Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following That is to say
First I recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping for Salvation only in and through the Merits and intercession of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ my Body I committ to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor herein after named
And as for those worldly Goods wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me I give and dispose of them as followeth

Imprimis I give and bequeath to my Brother Richard Pegden of Polin in the County of Sussex Twenty Pounds to be paid him within a Month after my Decease by my Executor
Item I give and bequeath to Thomas Appleby the Son of William Appleby of Frant in the County of Sussex Four and Twenty pound to be paid him by my Executor within six months after my Decease
Item I give and bequeath unto William Jeffery the Son of Edward Jeffery of Rust Hall in Speldhurst Parish in the County of Kent Five pounds to be paid him likewise by my Executor within a week�s time after my Decease

As for the rest of my money goods chattles and worldly Estate whatever I give and bequeath to my Cousin Thomas Mercer of Meopham aforesaid whom I ordain and appoint the sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I have hereto sett my hand and Seal Thos Pegden his mark
Signed Sealed and declared to be to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us
