In the Name of God Amen
I William Pemble of Cobham in the County of Kent Clerk being in good Health of Body and of sound Mind Memory and understanding praised be God for the same do make this my last Will and Testament in Manner and Form following
First and principally I commend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God hoping through the merits of my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ it will find Favour and Rest eternally in Heaven my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executrix herein after named and concerning all such worldly Estates as it hath pleased God to bless me with I dispose thereof as follows

Imprimis I will that all my Debts and Funeral Charges shall be first paid and discharged
Item I give devise and bequeath to my Brother Thomas Pemble all that my Rectory or Parsonage impropriate of Cobham aforesaid and all the Tythe Glebe Lands to the said Rectory or Parsonage belonging or appurtaining and now in the possession of Michael Comport and all that Advowson or Right of Presentation to the Vicaridge of the Parish Church of Cobham aforesaid
and all that my Stone House or Tenement and Lands thereunto belonging in Cobham aforesaid and now in my own possession and adjoining to the Church Yard there and also all that my House or Tenement known by the Name of the Sign of the Ship Ale House and Lands thereunto belonging with the Appurtenances in Cobham aforesaid and now in the possession of John Ruck Victualler and also all that my House or Tenement adjoining to the Ship Alehouse aforesaid with the Lands and Appurtenances thereunto belonging and now in the possession of Thomas Baker Wheel Wright and also all those my two Messuages or Tenements in Cobham aforesaid and of them being lately in the possession of William Laurence alias Wise but now in my own possession and the other in the possession of Richard Gransden Carpenter together with the Lands and appurtenances to the said two Houses belonging and also all that my Messuage or Tenement in Clive alias Cliff in the said County of Kent with the Lands thereunto belonging with the Appurtenances and now in the possession of [blank] Baker Shop Keeper and also all that my Messuage or Tenement with the Lands and Appurtenances thereunto belonging or appurtaining in High Halsto in the said County of Kent and now in the possession of John Saunders Husbandman
To have and to hold to my said Brother Thomas Pemble and his Assigns for and during the Term of his natural life

and from and after his decease then to the first Son of the Body of my said Brother Thomas Pemble lawfully begotten or to be begotten and of the Heirs male of the Body of such first Son lawfully issuing and in default of such Issue then to the second third fourth and all and every other Son and Sons of the Body of my said Brother Thomas Pemble lawfully issuing severally successively and in Remainder one after another as they shall be in Seniority of Birth and Seniority of Age of the several and respective Heirs male of the Body and Bodyes of such Son and Sons issuing the older of them and the Heirs male of his Body issuing being always to be preferred before the younger of them and the Heirs male of his Body issuing

and from and after the decease of such Issue male or in default of such Issue male then to the use and Behoof of my Sister Katherine Masters now Wife of George Masters of Meopham in the said County of Kent and her Assigns for and during the Term of her natural life and from and after her decease then to the Heirs male of her Body lawfully begotten or to be begotten by her said husband George Masters aforesaid and in default of such Issue then to my Right Heirs for ever

but I will order and direct that if my said Brother Thomas Pemble shall have no Sons capable of being presented to the Vicaridge of the said parish Church of Cobham when and as often as it shall become vacant that then the son of my Cousin James Pemble of Greenwich in the said County of Kent Surgeon shall be preferred to the said Vicaridge as shall be capable of taking it before any other person whatsoever

and Whereas I am intityled to the Revertion in Fee of and in several Messuages Lands and Premisses in Clive alias Cliff aforesaid I give devise and bequeath the same to my said Sister Katherine Masters Wife of George Masters aforesaid To have and to hold to her the said Katherine Masters and her Assigns for and during the Term of her natural life and from and after her decease I give devise and bequeath the same to the Heirs male of her body lawfully begotten or to be begotten by her said Husband George Masters
and in default of such Issue male then to my aforesaid Cousen James Pemble of Greenwich aforesaid for and during the Term of his natural life and from and after his decease that then the Rents or Profitts arising yearly out of the said Estates shall be equally divided amongst the Sons of my said Cousin James Pemble lawfully begotten or to be begotten and in default of such Issue make then to my Right Heirs for ever

and Whereas I am intityled to the Revertion in Fee expectant on the death of my Sister Elizabeth Comport now wife of Michael Comport of Cobham in the said County of Kent in all them two Messuages with the Lands and Appurtenances belonging thereto situate in the said parish of Cobham now in the possession of Robert Gunnings and Mark Evans and also of and in another Messuage or Tenement with the Lands and Appurtenances thereto belonging situate lying or being at Upnor in the parish of Frinsbury in the said County of Kent and now or lately in the possession of [blank] Johnson I give devise and bequeath the same to be divided equally Share and Share alike amongst the Children lawfully begotten or to be begotten on the Body of my said Sister Elizabeth Comport to hold to them the said Children their Heirs and Assigns for ever

Item I give and bequeath to my said Sister Elizabeth Comport the Sum of three hundred pounds
Item I give and bequeath to each and every of the Daughters of my said Sister Katherine Masters lawfully issuing or begotten by her said husband George Masters the full Sum of Three hundred pounds apiece to be paid them by my Executrix hereinafter named when they shall arrive at the age of twenty one Years or at the day of Marriage if it be with my Executrixes consent and Approbation

Item I give and bequeath to my Nephew Edward Wise the sum of Fifty pounds over and above what was left him by the last Will and Testament of my late Father William Pemble to be paid him at the age of twenty five Years with lawful Interest for the same or sooner if my Executrix shall think fit
Item I give and bequeath to my Niece Elizabeth Hayes Wife of John Hayes of Gravesend the Sum off Fifty pounds
Item I give and bequeath to my Cousin James Pemble of Greenwich in the County of Kent the Sum of One hundred pounds and to each and every of his Children lawfully begotten Fifty pounds apiece to be paid them by my Executrix when they shall arrive at the age of twenty one Years
Item I give and bequeath to my House Keeper Mildred Lamb the sum of Fifty pounds

and do will and order that if my personal Estate should not be sufficient to pay the aforesaid Legacyes that all and every part of my Reall Estate shall be subject thereto
all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my personal Estate of what Nature and kind soever and wheresoever I give and bequeath to my said Sister Katherine Masters
and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said sister Katherine Masters full and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Wills by me heretofore made

In Witness whereof I have to this my Will contained in one Sheet and this part of a Sheet put my Seal at the Top where they are fixed together and at the bottom of the first Sheet and at the latter such of this Sheet put my hand and Seal this ninth day of December in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and twenty nine.

Signed Sealed published and declared by the said William Pemble the Testator for and as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other at his Request have subscribed our Names and Witnesses hereto the Words together with the Lands and Appurtenances to the said two Houses belonging being first interlined in the first Sheet

[Latin:] This will was proved at London on the thirteenth day of the Month of January in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twenty nine before the Honourable Man Johannes Andrew Doctor of Laws surrogate of the venerable and distinguished man Johannes Bettesworth Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by oath of Catherine Masters (wife of George Masters Sister and Executrix named in the said Will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Rights and Credits of the said deceased sworn on the Holy Gospel of God to well and faithfully administer the same.)

Rev. William Pemble was ordained in 1717 and became vicar of St Mary Magdalene, Cobham and St Mary Magdalene, Gillingham.
