In the name of God Amen, I Susannah Osborne Pemble of Cobham in the County of Kent Widow being in Good health of Body and of Sound and Disposing Mind Memory and Understanding (praised be God) Do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)
First and Principally I surrender up my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping to be saved by and through the only merits and satisfaction of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer and my Body I commit to the Earth to be Devoutly Interred and Buried by and at the Discretion of my Executors hereinafter named

Also I make and appoint my Sons in Law Ambrose Proctor of Ware in the County of Hertford Maltster William Comport of Cobham in the said County of Kent Yeoman and my friend Edward Dyne of the city of Rochester in the said County of Kent surgeon Executors of this my last Will and Testament and Trustees for the Purposes hereinafter mentioned

And I Give unto the said William Comport the sum of Fifty pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain
and unto the said Ambrose Proctor and Edward Dyne the Sum of Twenty pounds apiece of like Money
for their Care and Trouble in and about the Execution of this my Will and the Trusts hereby by me in them reposed
And I do hereby revoke all former Wills by me made

Also I give and bequeath all and every my Wearing Apparel of every Sort and Kindsoever and also all and every my Household Goods and Implements of Household Towels Watches Rings Plate Linnen and China to my Grandaughter Susanna Wells to be kept or Disposed of for her benefit at the Discretion of my said Executors and Trustees

Also I Give and Devise all and every my Freehold and Copyhold Manors Messuages Lands Tenements and Heredit[amen]ts whatsoever and wheresoever with their and every of their appurt[enance]s and also and every the rest and residue of my personal Estate (not herein before disposed of and my Debts Legacys and funeral Expenses the Charges of proving this my Will and other incident charges attending the Execution hereof being thereout first paid and satisfied) unto the said Ambrose Proctor William Comport and Edward Dyne their Heirs Executors adm[inistrat]ors and assigns for and during and until such time as my Grand Children William Wells Thomas Wells and Susanna Wells (Children of my late daughter Mary Wells deceased) and every of them shall attain the Age of Twenty-one years

In Trust that they my said Trustees and the Survivors and Survivor of them and the Heirs Executors admors and Assigns of such Survivors and Survivor shall and do during that time pay and apply all and every the clear Rents profits Interest and Produce thereof in for and towards the Maintenance Education and bringing up of my said Grand Children or otherwise for their benefit until they and every of them shall attain such age as aforesaid at the Discretion of my said Executors and Trustees

and from and after such time as my said Grandchildren and every of them shall have attained the age of Twenty one years Then I Give and Devise one full undivided third part (the whole in three equal parts to be Divided) of and in all and every my Said Freehold and Copyhold Manors Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditts with their and every of their appurts unto to the use of my Daughter Susanna Wife of the said Ambrose Proctor and her Assigns for and during the Term of her married life and from and Immediately after her Decease unto and to the use of all and every the Child and Children as well Daughters as Sons of the Body of my said Daughter Susanna lawfully begotten and to be begotten their heirs and Assigns for ever equally to be Divided between them (if more than one) share and share alike as Tenants in Common and not as Joint Tenants
and for Default of such Issue unto and to the use of the said Ambrose Proctor and his assigns for and during the course of his natural life
and from and after his Decease Then I Give and Devise the same third part to the persons and in the proportions manner and form following (that is to say) one full Moiety or half part thereof I Give and Devise unto and to the use of my Daughter Elizabeth Wife of John Prebble of Cobham aforesaid Yeoman and the Heirs of her Body lawfully begotten and to be begotten
and for Default of such Issue unto and to the use of my said Daughter Elizabeth her Heirs and Assigns for ever
and the other full undivided Moiety or half part thereof I Give and Devise unto and to the use of my said three Grandchildren William Wells Thomas Wells and Susanna Wells their Heirs and Assigns for ever equally to be Divided between them Share and Share alike as Tenants in Common and not as Joint Tenants

Also I Give and Devise one other full undivided third part (the whole in three equal parts to be divided as aforesaid) of and in all and every my Said Freehold and Copyhold Manors Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditts with their and every of their appurts unto and to the use of my said Daughter Elizabeth and her Assigns for and during the Term of her natural life
and from and immediately after her Decease unto and to the use of all and every the Child and Children as well Daughters as Sons of the Body of my said Daughter Elizabeth lawfully begotten and to be begotten their Heirs and Assigns for ever equally to be Divided between them (if more than one) Share and Share alike as Tenants in Common and not as Joint Tenants
and for Default of such Issue Then I Give and Devise the same third part to the persons and in the proportions manner and form following (that is to say)
one full undivided Moiety or half part thereof I Give and Devise unto and to the use of my said Daughter Susanna and the Heirs of her Body lawfully begotten and to be begotten and for Default of such Issue unto and to the use of my said Daughter Susanna her Heirs and Assigns for ever
and the other full undivided moiety or half part thereof I Give and Devise unto and to the use of my said three Grandchildren William Wells Thomas Wells and Susanna Wells their Heirs and assigns for ever Equally to be divided between them Share and Share alike as Tenants in Common and not as Joint Tenants

Also I Give and Devise the other full undivided third part (the whole in three equal parts to be divided as aforesaid of and in all and every my said Freehold and Copyhold Manors Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditts with their and every of their appurts unto and to the use of my said three Grandchildren William Wells Thomas Wells and Susanna Wells their Heirs and Assigns for ever equally to be Divided between them Share and Share alike as Tenants in Common and not as Joint Tenants

Also from and after such time as all my said three Grandchildren shall have attained the Age of Twenty one years I Give and bequeath the said cash and residue of my Personal Estate so Given to my said Trustees In Trust as aforesaid unto them my said Trustees and Executors their Executors and Admors upon Trust that they the said Ambrose Proctor William Comport ad Edward Dyne and the Survivors and Survivor of them and the Executors and Admors of such Survivor Shall and do pay assign or Transfer all and every the said Residues of my Personal Estate or the moneys arising thereby or therefrom after Deducting their reasonable Costs and Charges unto and equally amongst all and every my Grandchildren (the Children of my Said Daughters Susanna Proctor and Elizabeth Prebble and of my said late Daughter Mary Wells Deceased) which shall be living at the time of my Decease equally to be Divided between them Share and Share alike the part and Share or parts and Shares of the said Grandchildren as shall be of the age of Twenty one years at the time of my Decease to be paid to them respectively within Six Months next after my decease and the Parts and Shares of such of them as shall not be of the Age of twenty one years at the time of my decease to be paid to them respectively at their respective Ages of Twenty one years

Provided always that in Case any of my said Grandchildren shall Dye under the Age of Twenty one years then I do give and bequeath the part and Share parts and Shares of him her or them so Dying unto and equally amongst the Survivors and Survivor of them at such time and times as his her or their own Original Share or Shares shall be or become Payable

and I do hereby Order will and Direct that until the respective parts and Shares of such of my said Grandchildren as shall not be of the Age of Twenty one Years at the time of my Decease shall pursuant to this my Will respectively become payable they my said Trustees and the Survivors and Survivor of them his Executors and Admors shall put and place the same out at Interest upon Government Securitys or in the purchase of Parliamentary Stocks or Funds or on such other Securitys as they shall think proper and yearly and every year pay and apply the Interest or Dividends thereof respectively to and for the benefit of such my said Grand Children according to their respective rights and Interests in the same

Provided also that it shall and may be lawful for my said Trustees and the Survivors and Survivor of them and the Executors and Admors of such Survivor to break? in upon the respective parts or Shares of the principal moneys hereby bequeathed or intended for my last mentioned Grandchildren altho the same shall not according to the Directions herein before Given Concerning the same be then payable if they shall see occasion or think it necessary for the maintenance Education putting out use or benefit of such my said Grandchildren respectively and to pay and apply the whole or such part thereof as they shall think fit for the Interest and Advantage of my last mentioned Grandchildren respectively not Exceeding on any of them more than his or her own proper respective Share any thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding

And Lastly I do Declare that it shall and may be lawful for my said Trustees and Executors their respective Executors and Admors to retain to themselves all reasonable Costs and Expenses which they or any of them shall be at in the Execution of the aforesaid Trusts and Executorship and that they shall not be answerable for more moneys or other things than they shall actually respectively receive nor for any losses that shall happen without their wilful Defaults and not the one for the other but each for his own acts Receipts and Defaults only

In Witness whereof I the said Susanna Osborne Pemble have to this my last Will and Testament contained in four Sheets of paper to every Sheet thereof set my hand and to the last my Seal Dated the Third Day of December in the Eighth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Sixty Seven Susanna Osborne Pemble

signed Sealed and Published and Declared by the said Susanna Osborne Pemble to be her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our names as witnesses hereunto in the presence of the said Testatrix

On the third Day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Seventy two Administration (with the Will annexed of the Goods Chattels and Credits of Susanna Osborne Pemble late of Cobham in the County of Kent Widow deceased was Granted to William Pemble Esquire the Curator or Guardian lawfully assigned to William Wells Thomas Wells Susanna Wells Spinster and Thomas Prebble Minors the only Grand Children of the said Deceased and Residuary Legatees named in the said Will for the use and benefit of the said Minors and until they or one of them shall attain the Age of twenty one years having been first sworn Duly to administer
William Comport one of the Executors and one of the Residuary Legatees named in the said Will Dying in the lifetime of the said Testatrix and Ambrose Proctor and Edward Dyne the other Executors and Residuary Legatees In Trust named in the said Will having first renounced as well the Execution thereof as Letters of Administration (with the said Will annexed) of the Goods of the said deceased.

On the 6th day of March 1778 Admin with the Will annexed of the Goods Chattels and Credits of Susanna Osborne Pemble late of Cobham in the County of Kent Widow deceased was granted to William Wells the Grandson of the said deceased and one of the Residuary Legatees named in the said Will having been first sworn duly to Admin'r
William Comport one of the Ex'ors and one of the Residuary Legatees In Trust named in the said Will dying in the lifetime of the said Testatrix and Ambrose Proctor and Edward Dyne the other Ex'ors and Residuary Legatees In Trust named in the said Will having formerly renounced as well the Execution thereof as Letters of Administration (with the said Will annexed) of the goods of the said dec'ed and the Letters of Admon (with the said Will annexed) of the goods of the said dec'ed granted in the month of Febry 1772 to William Pemble Esqr the Curator or Guardian lawfully assigned to the said William Wells, Thomas Wells, Susanna Wells Spinster and Thomas Prebble then Minors the Only Grandchildren of the said Deceased and Residuary Legatees named in the said will for their use and benefit and until they or one of them should attain the age of twenty one Years being ceased and expired by reason of the said William Wells having attained the said age.

Note: Susanna Osborne Pemble nee Hall, wife of Thomas Pemble, was buried in St Mary Magdalene graveyard, Cobham, Kent, on 12 May 1771.
