"Whereas I have lately on the marriage of my two sons John Petman and Robert Petman settled upon them severall messuages Lands and tenements my will and desire is that the same shall go and remain to the severall uses intents and purposes therein mentioned".

Bequests to "my loving wife Tamazin Petman" of lands and buildings " one whereof is called by the Sign of the Rose and the Malthouse Brewhouse" "in the seveall parishes of Ickham and Wickham Brewe in the county of Kent aforesaid and now or late in the severall Tenures or occupations of ... (blank) Stoddard and Elizabeth Petman widow and ...(blank) Bewson or their assignes...to have and to hold unto my said wife Tomazin Petman" "and after her decease ... unto my said son John Petman and his heires forever

Item I also give and devise unto my said wife Tomazin Petmaan all those three severall messuages or tenements one whereof is called ... by the name or sign of the Dog and the Cherry Orchard... in the said parish of Holy Cross Westgate ... Canterbury...in or near a place there commonly known by the name of North Lane and now or late in the occupations of Leonard Clarke Ovaine and ... (blank) their assignes" "And after her decease I give and devise the same unto my son Robert Petman and his heires forever"

Further property to be held for Tomazin "at a certain place called Ebbstreet in the parish of Minster in the Isle of Thanet in the said couty of Kent and now or late in the Tenure of Edward Mussared" and after her decease to go to "my said son Robert Petman and his assignes for ever". Further property to be held by Thomazin "my part and purpart" in land "by estimation ffourty acres more or less with ye appurtenances ... in the severall parishes of Waltham and Petham in the said county of Kent and now or late in the severall tenures or occupation of ...(blank) Moore and ... (blank) Ovenden" and after her decease to go to "my son John Petman".

".. I give and devise unto my daughter Mary Petman" a "moiety" in property in the parish of Bonnington, Kent " now or late in the tenure of Isaac Young or of his assignes and which I lately purchased ... of Zachary Kingsford late of the parish of St Andrew the Apostle in the City of Canterbury milliner".

"I give and bequeath unto the poor of the said parish of Holy Cross Westgate ye sum of ffourty shillings".
"... my loving wife Tomazin whom I do hereby ordain constitute and appoint to be my sole Executrix".
Signed "by the said John Petman the elder ... in the presence of us who subscribed our names as witnesses hereunto in the psence of ye Testator

Codicil "ffirst whereas I am seised of or intitled unto the Reverson or remainder expectant upon ye death of Thomas Lanes my son in law of one other moiety or half part of and in all that messuage of tenement ....in the parish of Bunnington ... Kent in or late in the occupation of Isaac Young ... I do hereby give ... ye same ... unto my son John Petman and unto son Robert Petman and unto my daughter Mary Petman".

He mentions that the land and buildings in Ickham and Wickham Brewe were "lately purchased of John Paramor Gent". On them John and Robert his sons are to "pay unto Mary Ammerson of the Isle of Thanet... one hundred pounds of lawfull money of England which I owe unto her on bond which I borrowed of her when I purchased ye said parts".

He set his "hand and seale this Tenth day of January in the fifth year of her now Majesties reign over England Anno Dei 1706 JOHN PETMAN Signed Sealed published and declared by ye said John Petman ye elder to be a codicill...as part of his last will and Testament in ye psence of us who as witnesses have subscribed our names in ye psence and sight of the said John Petman ye elder
