In the Name of God Amen This is the last Will and Testament of me Richd Pettman of the Town and Port of Sandwich in the County of Kent Principally I recommend my Soul unto Almighty God in a full and humble assurance of everlasting happiness in the next World thro his infinite mercy and goodness
I direct my body to be decently Interred at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named

I give and bequeath unto my dear and beloved Wife Ann Pettman the Interest Dividend and Annual Produce of the Sum of Two thousand Five hundred pounds Stock in the four per Centum Consolidated Bank Annuities and to her Heirs and Assigns for and during her natural life which aforesaid Sum is now standing in my Name in the Books of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England

and from and after the decease of my said Wife Ann Pettmen I give and bequeath the said Capital Sum of Two thousand Five hundred pounds unto my four Children Sarah Leggatt Elizabeth Hatton Curling Richd Pettman and Mary Jane Pettman equally to be divided between them share and share alike

and I likewise bequeath unto my said Wife this house where I now live together with all and every of the Appurts thereunto belonging together with all the Household Furniture Plate Linen Books and all Articles of Furniture in the said House belonging to me at the time of my decease during her natural life

and after her decease I give and bequeath the said House I give and bequeath the said House and Appurts and the said Household Furniture Plate and Linen Books to my four children Sarah Leggatt Elizabeth Hatton Curling Richd Pettman and Mary Jane Pettman their Heirs Executors Admors or Assigns to be equally divided amongst them share and share alike

I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Jane Pettman the Sum of One hundred and Sixty pounds to be paid to her within six Months after my decease out of my Estates or Money out of which may be called home for that purpose the above Sum of One hundred and Sixty pounds I give to my daughter her Heirs and Assigns and for her use forever which is to be good and lawful Money of Great Britain

And I also give and bequeath unto my four dear Children above mentioned all my Personal Estate and Effects wheresoever and all my Money in the Funds and all my Houses Lands and of what nature soever except what has before been bequeathed that my meaning may be understood and to prevent mistakes I repeat it over again for my said Wife to have the Stock which ... One hundred a Year and the House where we now live and all and every of the Furniture during her natural life and at her decease to be equally divided amongst my four Children And One hundred and Sixty pounds to my Daughter Mary Jane Pettman to make in some measure equal with my other Daughters and after my Wife�s decease all and every thing may be equally divided all Lands Houses Money share and share alike

and I do Nominate and Appoint my said Wife Ann Pettman and my Son Richd Pettman to be joint Executrix and Executor of this my last Will and Testament as the same is written on this paper and hereby revoke all former Wills

In Witness whereof I have set my hand and Seal in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and Nine and upon tenth day of October in the year Eighteen hundred and nine
