Will of Ann Pettman

of Sandwich, Kent

I give and Devise All and every my Messuages or tenements Lands Hereditaments and real estate whatsoever and wheresoever which I shall be possessed of or entitled to at the time of my decease unto the four children of my late husband (that is to say) Richard Pettman Sarah Leggatt of the said Town and Port of Sandwich widow Elizabeth Hatton Curling the wife of Edward Curling of Saint Bartholemew near Sandwich Gentleman and Mary Jane Slaughter the wife of Edward Slaughter of the said Town and Port Esquire equally to be divided between them share and share alike as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and to their several respective heirs and assigns for ever

Also I give and bequeath unto my neice Susanna Elizabeth Bartley wife of Alexander Bartley of London Horse Dealer the sum of Twenty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain
Also I give and bequeath unto Catherine Cronk the widow of my late brother William Cronk the sum of ten pounds ..... Thomas Cronk a son of my said brother William the sum of Ten Pounds and to my neice Catherine Cronk his daughter the like Sum of Ten pounds of like lawful money of Great Britain

Also I give and bequeath unto Mary Cronk the widow of my late brother Thomas Cronk the sum of Ten pounds of like lawful money and to my nephew James Cronk Son of my brother Thomas the like sum of Ten pounds
And I do hereby order and direct that the whole of the said several Legacies be paid to the Legatees respectively within six calendar months next after my decease

And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my ready money monies in the Public Stocks or Funds and other securities for Money Goods and Chattels and all other my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever which I shall be possessed of 0r entitled to at the time of my decease after payment of my just debts Funeral Expenses I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto the said Richard Pettman Sarah Leggatt Elizabeth Hatton Curling and Mary Jane Slaughter equally to be divided between them share and share alike

And I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made and declare this only to be and contain my last will and Testament of which I constitute and appoint the said Sarah Leggatt and Mary Jane Slaughter Executrixes In witness of which I the said Ann Pettman the Testator have herewith set and affixed my hand and seal the third day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and eighteen ANN PETTMAN Signed sealed and published and declared by the said Testator Ann Pettman as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses

The before registered Will of Ann Pettman widow deceased was proved the Nineteenth Day of March 1821 before the Reverend John Francis Clerk surrogate to the Right Honourable Sir William Scott Knight Doctor of Laws Official General to the Reverend the Archdeacon of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oaths of Sarah Leggatt Widow and Mary Jane Slaughter the Executrixes named in the will They being first sworn to duly perform the same.
