In the name of God amen the xxiiijth [24th] day of April in the Fourth year of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lorde King Jeames
I Robert Phylpott of the parish of Elmested being in good and perfect memorie do make that my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge
First I will my Soule unto Almighty God hopinge to have remission of all my sinnes throu[gh] Jesus Chyriste my redeemer and my body to the earth

Item I will unto Alse my wife all her wearinge apparell and cubbard standinge in the hall, one brass pott, one stuppenett and one Kettle
Item I will unto her more my best fetherbed furnyshed and foure paier of sheetes
Item I will unto her one Cow

Item I will unto my daughter Joyce tenne pounds to be payed unto her w[i]thin two yeares after my decease
Item I will unto my daughter Mary tenne pounds to be payed unto her wthin two yeares after my decease
Item I will unto my daughter Ann xls [40s] to be payed unto her wthin two yeares after my decease

Item I will unto the children of my Daughter Rose v poundes to be equally devided amongst them and there severall partes to be paied them as they shall come to the age of xxj yeares
I will unto my sonne Robert xxs besides the land I lately purchased in his name

Item I will unto the poore of the parish of Elmsted xxs to be given them at my buryall
the Residue of all my goodes I give to John Phillpott my sonne whome I make my Full and hole executor he paying my legacies aforesaid

This is the last will of me the abovesaid Robert Phillpott Conscerninge the disposition of all my landes

First I will that Alce my wife shall have the chamber in my house wherein I now dwell during her naturall life wth free egresse and regresse to the fire at all times convenient for her ncessary use
Item I will that she shall have one Cow kept uppon the landes belonginge to the said house as he doth keepe his owne whosoever shall have the occupation of the said house and lande duringe her naturall life

Item I will unto her out of my Landes in Elmsted five poundes a yeare to be payed unto her at the fowre usuall feastes in the yeare by even portions that is to say at the feastes of Saint John (the) Baptist, Saint michaell the archangell, the nativitie of our lord, and the annuntiation of our Lady, the first paiment to begin the first of the abovesaid feastes that shall happen after my decease
And if my said wife shall claime any dower out of my landes then my will is shee shall lose the whole benefitt of this my will

Item I give to John Phillpott my sonne my mansion house wherein I dwell wthall the appurtenances and all my landes in Elmsted to have and to hould to her and to his heries [heirs] and to his heires for ever Uppon this condition that he pay to Martin Phillpott and Thomas Phillpott my sonnes the severall somes of mony following and at suche times as I shall hereafter in my will sett downe (That is to saye)
to my sonne Martin Phillpott one hundred pound to be payd unto him wtin [within] two yeares after my decease;
to Mi[c]hell Phillpott one hundred pounds to be payd unto him wtin two yeares after my decease;
and to Thomas Phillpott fower score pound to be payd unto him wtin two yeares after my decease

And yf my said sonne John shall faile in payment of suche Legacies according(ly) as I have sett downe in my will, then my will is that my foresaid sonnes Martin, Mihell and Thomas shall have my foresaid house and all my landes aforesaid in Ealmested [Elmsted] to them and their heires for ever, they paying unto my sonne John fortie pounds wthin fower yeares after my decease

Item I give to Humphrey Phillpott my sonne my house wth the appurtenances and all the Land theare unto belonginge, lying at a place called Harsholt wthin the parish of Crundoule [Crundall], Waltham and Wye, to him and to his heires for ever uppon condition that my sonne Humphrey shall pay unto my daughtear Tomsin xxs out of the saide Landes aforesaid, and that he shall allow her a sufficient Chamber in the said howse wth free egress and regresse to the fire at all times and convenient for her necessary use duringe her naturall life
And if my daughter Tomsin shall dislike of her being in the foresaid howse then my will is my sone Humphrey shall pay unto her fortie shillinges a yeare duringe her naturall life and to be clearely discharged of her beinge in the said howse
