In the name of God Amen the firste Day of November in the fifteenth year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lord Charles the second 1639 I JOHN PHILLPOTT of the Parish of Eastry in the County of Kent Yeoman beinge sicke in body but of sound and perfect memory thanks be given to God for the same do make and ordayne this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following.
Firste I bequeath my soule to Almighty God having through the merritts of Jesus Christ his onle sonne and my body to the Earth from whence it came to be buryed in the Churchyard of the Parish aforesaid as neare to my Father as may be.
And as touching my worldly goods which God in beinge hath blessed me I will and bequeath them in manner and forme following.

Item I give to the Poore of the Parish of Eastry tenn shillings to be bestowed at the discretion of my Executor or his Assigns hereafter named.
Item I will give and bequeath to MARGARETT my loving wife two hundred pounds of good and lawfull money of England one hundred pounds to be paid her within six months next after my decease and the other hundred pounds to be paid her within twelve months next after my decease by my Executor hereafter named. And my mynd and will is that my Executor shall pay tenn pounds net of the said two hundred pounds after tenn dayes next after my decease to my said wife his Mother.

I give and bequeath now to MARGARETT my wife one joyne bedsted one featherbed one flockbed three blankitts two coverlids two boulsters two pillows two payer of pillow bears three payer of shites one chest one boxe one dozen of pewter two brasse potts one brasse kettle one brasse stupnett one chafeinge dish one morter and pessell fore brasse candlesticks fore pewter candlesticks one chamber pott and two chayers shee to tak her choyse out of all my for household of the said things bequeathed to her.
Item I give more to my said wife one load of wood to be paid her within sixe dayes next after my decease by my Executor.

I give and bequeath to my daughter MARGARETT fower pounds of good and lawfull money to be payd to her after fourteen dayes next after my decease by my Executor.
Item I give and bequeath more to my daughter MARGARETT one hundred pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be paid unto her within five months next after my decease or on the Daye of her Marriage which it shalt please God shall happen to come first.

Item I give and bequeath to my sonne RALFE PHILLPOTT my lease and terme of yeares yett to come of Buckland Lande.

Item I give and bequeath to my grandchild JOHN SPENCER five pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be paid him when he shall accomplishe the age of one and twentye yeares or on the Daye of his Marriage which it shalt please God to come first.

Item I give and bequeath to my grandchild MARGARETT SPENCER tenn pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be paid her by my Executor when she shall attayne to the age of one and twentye yeares or on her Daye of Marriage such it shalt please God shall come first.

Item I give and bequeath to my two grandchildren ANNE SPENCER and ELIZABETH SPENCER fifty shillings as aforesaid to be paid unto them by my Executor when they shall come to their severall ages of one and twentye yeares or Dayes of their Marriage which it shalt please God shall come first.

The Residue of all my moveable goods whatsoever not bequeathed I give and bequeath to WILLIAM PHILPOTT my sonne whome I ordayne and make my full Executor of this my last Will and Testament he payinge and discharginge my debts and legacies.

In Witness whereon have hereunto sett my hand and seale and delivered the same as my Will and deed and thereof of my Executor. In the presence of us whose names are hereunder written - JOHN PHILLPOTT
