now concerning my lordly goods wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me I give and dispose thereof as followeth.
And first I give and bequeath unto the poore people of the Parish of
Word als Worth aforesaid forty shillings to be paid and distributed unto and amonst them within one month
next after my decease by my said sonne and Executor RALPH PHILPOTT.
Also I give and bequeath unto my two younger sonnes WILLIAM PHILPOTT and EDWARD PHILPOTT and to either of them the sume of twenty pounds to be paid unto them and to either of them within two yeares next after my decease.
Also I give unto my eldest daughter KATHERINE widow and relict of WILLIAM DENNE twelve pounds.
And I give and bequeath unto my two younger daughters MARY the wife of STEPHEN HATCHER and
ELIZABETH the wife of RICHARD TERRY either of them the sume of tenne pounds to be paid unto them
and either of them within three yeares next after my decease.
Item. I give and bequeath unto everyone of my grandchildren which shall be living at the time of my decease twenty shillings apiece to be paid unto them and either of them at their and everyone of their severall and respective age and ages of twenty yeares.
All the rest and residue of my goods chattles householdstuffe stock leases and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever the same shall exist and be (my Debts Legacies herein bequeathed funerals charges and probate of this my Will being first paid and deducted) I give and bequeath unto my said eldest sonne and Executor RALPH PHILPOTT.
This is the last Will and Testament of me the said Ralph Philpott the elder made and declared the said nineteenth Day of August Anno Dmi 1665. Touching the disposing of my messuages lands tenements and hereditaments with the appurtenances yet unsettled situate lying and being within the Towne and Port of Sandwiche and in the parishes of Word als Worth, Eastry, Woodnesborough and Elsewhere in the said County of Kent. All which my said messuages lands tenements and hereditaments with their and every of their appurtenances I give and devise unto my said eldest sonne and Executor RALPH PHILPOTT and his heirs forever.
In Witness whereof to this my last Will and Testament in two sheets of paper contayned to each sheet
thereof my hand and seale have sett dated the day and yeare first above written RALPH PHILPOTT sealed
and delivered and alsoe published and declared to be the last Will and Testament of the said RALPH
PHILPOTT after the word (fine) in the first sheet was raced and the word sonne overwritten in the presence
