In the name of God Amen The Fourteenth Day of March in the Tenth Year of the Reign of our Soveraign Lady Anne by the grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith etc., Anno dini 1710
I John Philpot the Elder of Crundal in the County of Kent, Husbandman, being ancient and infirm of Body but of sound and perfect mind, memory & understanding (God be praised therefore) do make and ordain this my prsent last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)
First and principally I resign up my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God that gave it me, hoping and assuredly trusting to receive free Pardon and Remission of all my Sins only in and ‘thro the meritorious Death and Passion of my alone Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ And my body to the Earth from whence it came to be decently buried at the discretion of mine Executor hereafter named
And as for that part and portion of worldly Estate which it hath pleased Almighty God of his infinite Bounty to bestowe upon me I give devise and bequeath the same in manner hereinafter mentioned and expressed

Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Boulding Widow the Sum of One Shilling of Lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid unto her within One Month next after my decease by mine Executrix hereafter named

Item I give and devise unto my Son John Philpott All that my Messuage or Tenement wherein I now dwell, together with the Lands containing by Estimation Four Acres more or less and the Barn and Stable thereunto belonging situate, lying and being in Crundal aforesaid and Waltham in the said County of Kent at a certain place called Harsole Street To have and to hold the said Messuage, Barn, Stable, Lands and Pr[e]misses unto my said Son John Philpott his Heirs and Assigns for ever
Subject, nevertheless to the payment out of the same, the several Sums hereinafter mentioned

Item I give devise and bequeath unto my Daughter Margaret Hall, Wife of William Hall the Sum of Fourtie Shillings of lawfull money of Great Britain, to be paid unto her within One year after my decease out of all that my afores[ai]d Messuage, Barn, Stable, Lands and Prmisses thereunto belonging in Crundal and Waltham aforesaid by my Executor hereafter named
Item I give, devise & bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah Dad, Wife of Matthew Dad the Sum of Forty Shillings of like money to be paid unto her within two years next after my decease by my Executor hereafter named within two years next after my decease
Item I give, devise & bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Crow, Widow the Sum of Forty Shillings of like money to be paid unto her within three years next after my decease by my Executor hereafter named
Item I give, devise & bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Grayland Wife of Richard Grayland the Sum of Forty Shillings of like money to be paid out of my said Messuage, Lands and Prmisses within Four years next after my decease by my Executor hereafter named

And my will and mind is that if any of my said Four Daughters Margaret, Sara, Mary and Elizabeth shall fortune to dye and depart before her or their Several & respective Sumes of Fourty Shillings becomes due and payable as aforesaid to them, Then I give devise and bequeath such Sum or sums of Forty Shillings unto the Child or Children of my said Four Daughters so dying to be paid out of my said Messuage, Lands and Prmisses in such manner and at such time as is above mentioned and expressed by mine Executors hereafter named

Item I give, devise and bequeath unto my Youngest Daughter Catherine Philpot the Sum of Three Pounds of like money to be paid unto her out of my said Messuage, Lands and Prmisses within two years next after my decease by mine Executor hereafter named
But if she the said Catherine Philpot my Daughter dye before the said Three pounds becomes due and payable unto her or shall be married Then I give devise and bequeath the same unto my said Son John Philpott and my said Messuage, Lands and Prmisses shall be discharged from payment thereof

Item I give and bequeath unto my said Four Daughters Margaret Hall, Sara Dad, Mary Crow and Elizabeth Grayland the Sum of One Shillings apiece of like money to be paid unto them and each of them out of my personal Estate within Three Months after my decease by mine Executors hereafter named

Item all the rest & residue of my personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever (after my Debts, Legacies and Funeral Expences are paid and discharged) I Give and bequeath unto my said Son John Philpott, whom I make and ordain full and sole Executor of this my pr[e]sent last Will & Testam[en]t, revoking hereby all former Will or Wills by me at any time heretofore made

In Witnes whereof I the said John Philpot the Elder have to this my prsent last Will & Testament set my Hand and Seal (the) day and year first above written

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said John Philpot the Elder to be his last Will and Testament in the prsence of us who subscribed our names in the prsence of the Testator
