In the name of God Amen I John Piggott of Cowden in the County of Kent Blacksmith being in good health of Body and of Sound and Perfect Disposing Mind and Memory (thanks be given to Almighty God for the same) and considering the uncertainty of this Life do therefore make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and Form following (that is to say)
I first give my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator and my Body I recommend to the Earth to be decently buried and as touching such Temporal Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this Life I give and dispose of the same as followeth

First I give and bequeath unto my Sister Mary Baldwin the Sum of one shilling to be paid her at my Funeral

Also I give devise and bequeath unto my Loving Wife Sarah all that my Annuity, Rent charge or Sum of Ten Pounds by the Year issuing and going out of and from all that Messuage or Tenement Farm Lands and Premisses called Standfords and Situate lying and being in the Parish of Eatonbridge in the aforesaid County of Kent To have and to hold all and Singular my said Yearly Annuity, Rent Charge or Sum of Ten Pounds by the Year unto my said Loving Wife Sarah and to her Heirs and assigns forever

I likewise give devise and bequeath unto my said Loving Wife Sarah all that my three parts which I have any Right or title to of that Messuage or Tenement commonly called or known by the Name of the Swan together with the Stable outhouses Edifices and Buildings with the Garden Orchard with all and Singular the Appurtenances unto the aforesaid Messuage together with a certain piece of Land commonly called or known by the Name of the Strake? containing in the whole by estimation two acres be the same more or less situate lying and being in Cowden in the County of Kent and now in the Occupation of William Heasman and myself To have and to hold the aforesaid Messuage or Tenement Lands and Premisses with all and Singular their Appurtenances unto my Loving Wife Sarah and to her heirs and assigns for ever

I likewise give devise and bequeath unto my said Loving Wife Sarah all that my Messuage or Tenement and Smiths Forge together with about five Rods of Land thereunto belonging Situate lying and being in Cowden aforesaid and now in my own Occupation To have and to hold the aforesaid Messuage Tenement Smiths Forge and Premisses thereunto belonging unto my said Loving Wife Sarah and to her heirs and assigns for ever

I likewise give devise and bequeath unto my said Loving Wife Sarah all that my Messuage or Tenement with the Edifices and Buildings with the Gardens Orchards with the Land thereunto belonging containing in the whole by estimation two Acres by they more or less commonly called or known by the Name of Longs Situate lying and being on holty common in the Parish of Hartfield in the County of Sussex and in the Mannor of Munklow and now in the Occupation of George Weller To have and to hold all and Singular my aforesaid Messuage or Tenement Lands and Premisses thereunto belonging unto my said Loving Wife Sarah and to her heirs and assigns for ever

And Lastly after my Debts legacy and Funeral Expences are Paid and discharged all the rest and residue of my Goods Chattels & Personal Estate and Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever I give devise and bequeath unto my said Loving Wife Sarah whom I make ordain and appoint full and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said John Piggott have to this my last Will and Testament contained in one Sheet of Paper set my hand and Seal the eight day of January in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty nine

This Will was Proved at London the Twenty Second day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Fifty three before the Right Honourable Sir George Lee, Knight, Doctor of Laws, Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Sarah Piggott Widow the Relict of the deceased and Sole Executrix named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and Singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased being first Sworn by Commission duly to administer

Note: John Piggot was buried 23rd September 1752 at St. Mary Magdalen, Cowden, Kent.
