In the name of God Amen the xxvjth day of Marche (in) the yere of our lorde God [1544] and in the xxxvjth [36th] yere of the Reigne of or Sovraigne lorde Henry theight by the grace of God king of Ingland Fraunce and Irland defendor of the faythe and of the churche of England and also of Irland in erthe the supreme he[a]d
I Willm* Quylter of the p[ar]ishe of Saynte Peter wthin the Towne and porte of Sandwiche yeoman being of holle [whole] mynde and in good and p[er]fecte remembrannce Laude and praise be therefore unto Almightie God make and ordeyn this my p[rese]nte testament herein declaring my laste will in man[ne]r and forme folowyng (that is to witte)
Fyrste and principally I give and bequethe my soule unto Almightie God my maker and redemer in whom and by the merites of whose blessed passion is my holle truste and confidence of alone remission and forgivenes of my synnes, And my body to be buried in the churcheyarde of Saynte Peters aforesayd

Item I give and bequethe unto Avice Broke widowe, wiche I intend yf had pleased Allmightie God to have me lyf to have married and taken to my wyf all suche stuffe as she brought unto me
And I will that my execut[o]r hereunder namyd shall contente and pay to the said Avyce a xxvjs viijd which I borrowed of her

The Residue of all my goodes cattall and dettes moveable and unmoveable whatsoevr they be after my dettes payd my funerall expences p[er]formyd and this my legacies in this my p[rese]nte testamente and laste will fulfilled I holly give and bequethe unto Richard Quylter my sone to his owne p[ro]pre use and behofe for evr

Item I dispose suche p[ar]te thereof as he shall thinke moste beneficiall for the welthe of my soule and all xpian [Christian] soules wiche Richard Quylter of theis my pnte testamente and laste will I make and ordeyn my sole executor
And of the executcon of the same I make and ordeyn my welbeloved frende Jerome Pymecke my ovrseer And I bequethe to hym for his labor and payns to be taken on this behalfe a iijs iiijd

Thys ys the laste will of me thabove named Symon Quylter declaryd the day and yere abovesayd touching the disposiccon of all my Landes and rentes wt thapptenncs [the appurtenances] lieng and being wtin the towne and porte of Sandwiche or els where wtin the countie of Kente in form foloweng (that is to say)

Firste I will that thafore namyd Avyce shall have and enjoye all that my dwelling house Lieng and being in Sandwiche aforsayd all that is con.. the aft[er] side of the water delse? to have and holde the same to her and her assignes during and as long as the same Avys shall kepe her selfe sole widowe and unmarried
And yf the said Avys happen to marrie then I will the sayd house shall remayne unto the above namyd Rychard Quylter and to his heires for evr
Under condicon that the sayd Rychard shall contente and pay unto Leonarde Quylter, Thomas Quylter and Gyllyn Quylter my children, that is to say, to evry of them a pece a xls at suche tyme and when as the sayd Avys shall fortune to mary And my sone Richard to entre in to the prmisses

Item I will that the sayd Richarde my sone shall have all that my pasture grounde wt thapptenncs wiche Thoms Smythe of Norborn [Northbourne] nowe holdeth and occupieth To be had to him his heires and assignes for ever

And for the rest of all other my landes ten[emen]tes wt thapptenncs wheresoevr they lie or be I holly give and bequethe them unto the sayd Richard my sone his heires and assignes for evr
