In the name of God Amen This fiveteenth day of July in the yeare of our Lord One thousand sixe hundred fiftye and eight
I John Raynham of the Towne and Porte of Hyth in the County of Kent, Jurate, beinge sicks and weake in bodye yet of perfect remembrance (thankes be to God) doe make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme followinge
First I bequeath my Soule into the mercifull handes of Almightie God hopeinge through the meritts of Jesus Christ to be made pertaker of life everlastinge

Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Raynham my welbeloved Wife All and Singuler my landes and Tenements Scituate in the towne and porte of Hythe or else where in the Countie of Kent togeather with all the Landes I late purchased to me and my heires of the nowe Jurates and Comons of Hythe aforesaid

And after the decease of the said Elizabeth my wife I give and devise all and singuler my Landes and Tenements before willed to my Wife unto my twoe daughters (that is to say) to Elizabeth Raynham and Sara Raynham equally to be devided between them at their Severall ages of one and twentie yeares or dayes of marriage which shall first happen

And if it fortune that either of my said daughters happen to dye before the said age of one and twenty yeares or day of marriage as aforesaid That then my Will and minde is that the Survivor of them shalbe heire to the deceased

Nowe as touchinge my moveable goodes and chattells which it hath pleased the Lord to lend me I dispose thereof in manner and forme followinge
Item I give and bequeath all and Singuler my moveable goods and Chattells unto the said Elizabeth my Wife dureinge the terme of her naturall life
And after her decease I give and bequeath the same that shall remaine to be equally shifted and devided betweene my sonnes? two daughters
Item I give and bequeath unto my Brother Paule Rayneham my best suite of apparrell and my best Cloake

Lastly I nominate ordayne and make Elizabeth my wife full and whole Executrix of this my last will and Testament to see the same proved my debtes and legacies paid and funerall expences discharged

In Witnes whereof I the said John Raynham have to this my present Last Will and Testament sett my hand and seale renouncing all other wills by me formerlie made dated the day and yeare first above written

This Will was prove at London the seaventeenth day of September In the yeare of our Lord God one thousand Sixe hundred fiftye eight Before the Judges For Probate of Wills and grauntinge administracons [administrations] lawfully authorized by the oathe of Elizabeth Rayneham the Relict and Executrix named in the said Will To whome was comitted Administracon of all and singuler the goodes chattells and debts of the said deceased Shee beinge first by Comission Sworne well and truely to administer.

Notes:
John Raynham married Elizabeth Turke 8th May 1638 at Canterbury Kent, by Licence, which reads:
Rainham, John, of Hythe, Butcher, Ba., about 30 and Elizabeth Turke, same parish, v(irgin), about 19, whose parents are dead, and she now at the cheife govt. of Philip Hanings, same parish, Yeoman who consents. At St. Margaret’s Canterbury. John Lee of Hythe Yeoman and John Tilgham, same parish, fellmonger, bonds. 8th May 1638.
Their children (all christened at Hythe, St. Leonard): 10 May 1640 Elizabeth; 7 Aug 1642 Alise; 25 Oct 1644 Margarett; 12 Feb 1645(6) John; 25 Dec 1651 Ann; 12 May 1653 Ann.
