In the Name of God Amen I Richard Relf of the Parish of Brenchley in the County of Kent Labourer being in a weak state of bodily health but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for Men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say
principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the direction of my Executor nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God as touching such worldly Estate to wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form

I give and bequeath to my beloved Wife all my Household Furniture together with all fruit and vegetables that may then be in my House or Garden or any other place in my possession
and I give to my Son John Relf the sum of one shilling to be paid to him in lawful money of England

I also give and bequeath all my other property which is in the hands of my Son John Relf to my beloved Wife to Thomas my Son to my daughter Ann Wife of William Barefoot to my daughter Hannah Wife of John Barefoot to my daughter Susannah Wife of Masters to the Children of my Son Edward Relf deceased their fathers share and the Children of my Son Matthew Relf deceased their Fathers part and to my Son Richard Relf
each of them to share and share alike so soon as my youngest Son shall arrive to the age of twenty one years if he lives and survives so long if not then all my property to be disposed of & shared as above stated as soon after the decease of the said Richard Relf as then can be

and the Interest deriving from any sum of money that I may leave at my decease shall be paid into the hands of my beloved Wife for the benefit of my youngest Son Richard Relf who is now an apprentice till he arrives to the age of twenty one years if he lives so long

and I constitute make and ordain my Son Thomas Relf my sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament who shall be paid all reasonable expences attending the execution of this my last Will and Testament
and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments Wills legacies bequests and Executors by me at any time named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will & Testament

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this twelfth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & eighteen Richard Relf (LS)
Signed Sealed published & pronounced and declared by the said Richard Relf as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names

Richard Relf was baptised 2 June 1734, All Saints, Tudeley, Kent, born to Richard Relf (1716-66) and Elizabeth Mercer (1709-38) and was buried 1 January 1819, aged 75 years, Brenchley, Kent. He married Mary Wells (1740-99), 11 March 1770, Brenchley.
Their children were all baptised at Brenchley: Richard 31 August 1770-buried 3 May 1786, Brenchley, aged 15 years; John 20 April 1772; Thomas 24 April 1774; Anne 21 April 1776; Edward 8 February 1778; Matthew 16 April 1780; Susanna 18 July 1784; and Hannah 23 April 1786.
Richard Relf subsequently married Hannah Roberts, widow, 28 July 1800, Ticehurst, Sussex.
Their son, Richard, was baptised 28 November 1802, Brenchley.
Ann Relf married William Bearfoot 10 July 1797, Goudhurst, Kent;
John Relf married Ann Usherwood 8 November 1797, Brenchley;
Hannah Relf married John Barefoot 24 November 1805, Ticehurst;
and Matthew Relf married Sarah Sedgwick 15 November 1803, Maidstone. He was buried 9 January 1805, Brenchley aged 24 years and was described as being of Linton.
