First I give to each of my Nephews and nieces Samuel William Henry Joseph Benjamin Ann and Mary Crampton One hundred
Pounds to be paid to them respectively on their attaining the Age twenty one Years
And I give to my Brothers natural Son Thomas Russell Two hundred Pounds to be paid him within twelve months next after my decease
I also give to each of my Nephews and Nieces John William Jane Elizabeth and Harriet Munn One hundred Pounds to be paid to such of them
as may be of the Age of twenty one Years within twelve months next after my decease at the expiration of that period and
to such of them as shall then be under the Age aforesaid as they shall respectively arrive at such Age
And I give to my Godson Edward Samuel Relf Sauter fifty Pounds to be paid to him when he shall attain the Age of twenty one Years
And I direct all the above legacies to be paid to the said Several legatees without Interest in the mean time.
And that my Brother Henry Relf shall enjoy such Interest and all the residue of my Personal Estate whatsoever after Payment of my debts Funeral and necessary expenses of my Executors I give and bequeath to my said Brother Henry absolutely and for his own benefit
And I appoint my said Brother Henry and Moses Cloake of Guestling in the County of Sussex farmer joint Executors of this my Will

Sealed Published and declared by the above named testator as and for his last Will and testament the fifth Sixth Seventh and eighth lines from
the bottom of the other Side having been first struck out with a pen in the presence of
Chas Willis Junr.
Appeared Personally John Skinner of Cranbrook in the County of Kent Gentleman and made oath
that he knew and was well acquainted with Samuel Relf late of Cranbrook in the County of Kent
Farmer deceased for Several Years before and down to the time of his death and that having during
such his acquaintance with the said deceased frequently seen him write and Subscribe his name to
Writings hath thereby become well acquainted with his manner and Character of handwriting and
Subscription And the deponent having now carefully viewed and inspected the paper writing how
hereto annexed which purports to be and contain the last Will and testament of the said deceased
and which begins thus “This is the last Will of me Samuel Relf of Cranbrook in the County of Kent
Farmer made the eighth day of January One thousand eight hundred and nineteen” ends thus “In
Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and Year first above written” and is
thus Subscribed “Samuel Relf” and having particularly noticed and observed the said recited
Subscription he lastly made oath that he verily and in his Conscience believes the same to be of the
proper handwriting and Subscription of the said deceased

On Monday the nineteenth day of February 1827 the said John Skinner was duly Sworn to the truth of the aforegoing
Affidavit by virtue of the Commission hereto annexed Before me Isaac Mossop Feby 19 - 1827 Commissioner
Proved at London the 1 March 1827 before the Judge by the oaths of Henry Relf the Brother and Moses Cloke (in the Will written Cloake) the Executors to whom Admin was granted having been first Sworn by Commission duly to Administer./.

Samuel’s parents are most likely to have been Samuel Relfe of Dallington and Lucy Hyland of Ewhurst who married by Licence
20 May 1771, Ewhurst. His sister, Ann Relfe, was baptised 14 August 1772, Dallington, Sussex. His brother, Henry Relfe, was
baptised 26 June 1774, Dallington, Sussex and died June 1838, Cranbrook, Kent.
Samuel Relfe was baptised 16 July 1775, Dallington, Sussex.
Ann Relf married William Munn 22 November 1791, Hawkhurst, Kent. Samuel’s sister Susanna Relf, married Samuel Crampton 20 November 1799,
