In the name of God Amen: The Eight Day of August in the yeare of our Lord god one thousand Six hundred Fifty and three
I Alexander Rolfe of the Parrish of Staplhurst in the County of Kent Clothier beinge Sick in body but in good and perfect memorie prayse bee give to Allmightie good for the Same. And knoweinge the uncertainety of this life on Earth And beinge Desirous to Settle things in order Doe make this my Last will and Testament in manner and forme Followinge That is to Saye
First and principally I Commend my Soule to god my Creator Assuredly beleeveinge That I shall receave full pardon and free remission of all my Sinnes And bee Saved by the pretious Death and merritts of my Blessed Savior and Redeemer Christ Jesus And my body to the Earth from whence it was taken To bee buried in Such Decent Christian buriall As Shalbee thought meete and Conveynient to my Executors hereafter named
And as Touchinge Such Worldly Estate as the Lord in mercie hath Lent mee my will and meaninge is The Same Shalbe imployed and bestowed as hereafter by this my will is expressed

And First I Doe renounce Frustrate and make voyde All wills by mee formerly made And Declare and appointe this my Last will and Testament
Item I give and bequeath unto my Eldest Sonne John Rolfe of Marden my Hopgarden neare Towne Sutton with the hoppoles thereto belonginge
Item I give and bequeath to my Sayd Eldest Sonne John Rolfe the house and the Land thereto belonginge in Staplehurst wherein my youngest Sonne John Rolfe now Liveth And one Wainscott Cupboard And presse now Standing in my now Dwellinge house in the Chamber over the hall marked with ER

Item I give and bequeath to my Loveing wife All Such goods that were hers before wee married And one Fatt pyde Cowe
Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter After the wife of Joseph Dann Forty pounds
Item I give and bequeath to my youngest Sonne John Rolfe of Staplehurst aforesayd my Tyme in the Lease of the Messuage or Tenement wherein I nowe Liveth with all my Stocke of Cattle And alsoe Implements of Husbandry thereto belonginge

Item I give and bequeath all my other goods and Chattles which by these presents are not Disposed of to bee equally Devided betweene my Two Sayd Sonnes
And Doe by these presents Constitute and ordaine my Sayd Two Sonnes Executors unto this my Last will and Testament

This Will was proved at Westminstr The Thirteenth Day of September in the yeare of our Lord god Accordinge to the Computation of the Church of England one thousand Six hundred Fifty and foure Before the Judges for probate of wills and grantinge Administrations Lawfully Authorized by the oaths of John Rolfe the Elder And John Rolfe the younger The naturall and Lawfull Sonnes of the Sayd Deceased And Joynt Executors named in this Last will and Testament of the Sayd To whom was Committed Administration of all and Singular the goods Chattles and Debts of the Sayd Deceased They beinge first Sworne well and truely to Administer the Same/

Alex Rolfe married Aphra Denn 15 August 1614, Staplehurst, Kent.
Affara Denne was baptised 11 March 1593, Canterbury and was buried 29 July 1627, Staplehurst.
Their two sons John were baptised 30 April 1615 and 28 January 1620/1, respectively, at Staplehurst.
Afre Rofe was baptised 29 July 1627, Staplehurst.
The wife of Alexander Rolfe was buried 30 Apr 1649, Staplehurst.
He may have then married Martha Tusse.. 4 Aug 1650 at Canterbury St. Mary Northgate.
Alexander Rolfe, sen'r, Clothier, sonne of Elias Rolfe late dec'd was buried 8 Aug 1654, Staplehurst.
