The third day of June In the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Forty Seven
I Peregrine Rolph of the Parish of Hollingbourn in the County of Kent Yeoman being Sick and Weak of Body but of Sound Mind and Memory thanks be Given unto God therefore calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and Knowing that it is Appointed for all Men once to die Do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say
Principally and First of all I comend my Soul into the hands of God that Gave it and my Body I comend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executor nothing Doubting but I shall receive the same again at the General Resurrection and as touching such Estate with which it has pleased God to bless me in this life I Give Demise and Dispose of the same in the manner and form following,

First I Give and bequeath to Elizabeth my Dearly beloved Wife the Sum of Ten pounds of Lawfully Money of England Per Annum to be raised and levied out of my Estate and to be well and truly paid to the said Elizabeth during her life in four Several Quarterly Payments, that is to say, at Christmas, Lady day Midsummer and Michaelmas

Likewise I Give and bequeath to my well beloved Daughter Elizabeth Rolph the Sum of Twenty pounds of the like lawful Money of England to be paid in a Twelve month and a Day next ensuing her Mothers Decease
Likewise to my Well beloved Daughters Mary and Ann Rolph I Give and bequeath the Sum of Fourscore pounds a peice of Lawfull Money of England to be paid in Six Months after they shall become to the Age of Twenty one years but and in Case either of the said Partys Mary and Ann Rolph shall Die before they come to the Age of Twenty one years then and in such Case I Give Twenty pounds more of the same Lawfull Money of England to be paid to the Surviving Party and the remaining Sixty Pounds i Give and bequeath to my Eldest Son John Rolph

Likewise I Give and bequeath to my youngest Son Samuel Rolph the Sum of Two hundred pounds of the like Lawfull Money of England to commence paying from the Day he Shall become to the Age of Twenty one Years at and after the Rate of Thirty Pounds Per Year till the whole shall be well and truly paid

Lastly I Give and bequeath to my Eldest Son John Rolph whom I also Constitute make and Ordain Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament all and Singular my Household Goods Debts Chattels and Moveable Effects together with all and Singular my Lands Messuages and Tenements lying and being in the Parish of Hollingbourn in the County of Kent to him and his Heirs Male by him and them freely to be Possessed and Enjoyed but the Timber on the said Premisses he shall not fell without first asking the Consent of my Dearly beloved Wife Elizabeth

and in Case the said John Rolph shall die and leave no Male Issue then all and Singular my Lands Messuages and Tenements I Give and bequeath to my youngest Son Samuel Rolph Provided that the said Samuel Rolph pay or cause to be paid to the daughter or Daughters of the said John Rolph the Sum of Sixty Pounds a piece of Lawfull English Money on the day they shall be of the Age of Twenty one years

I likewise Appoint my Eldest Son aforesaid to Apprentice out his younger Brother Samuel allowing and paying to him the Sum of Twenty Shillings per quarter the first three years and forty Shillings per quarter the last four years of such Apprenticeship and I Will that the said Money be repaid out of the Two hundred pounds aforesaid

Also I appoint Samuel Atkinson Esquire and Richard Wall Gentleman to see that this my last Will and Testament be duly Executed
And I do hereby disallow Revoke and Disannul all and every other Will or Testament by me in any wise before named or willed confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year aforesaid Peregrine Rolph
- Signed Sealed and Delivered in the Presence of us the Witnesses by the said Peregrine Rolph as his Last Will and Testament being contained in Two Sheets of paper.

This Will was Proved at London the Twelfth day of June In the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and fifty Eight before the Worshipfull Andrew Coltee Ducarel Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Right Honourable Sir George Lee Knight also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of John Rolph the Son of the deceased and Sole Executor named in the said Will to whom Administration was Granted of all and Singular in the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased having been first Sworn duly to Administer.

Note: Peregrine Rolph married Elizabeth Classon 24 January 1722, All Saints, Maidstone. He was buried 18 November 1749, Hollingbourne, Kent.
