This Indenture made this 29 Day of August in the year of Our Lord, One
thousand eight hundred and twenty two between nathan & Caty Bray of the
County of Pulaski and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part and James
Hargis of the County and Commonwealth afor. of the other part, Witnesseth
that the said Nathan Bray & Caty Bray his Wife for and in consideration of
one hundred dollars to William Alexander in hand paid the receipt whereof
which is hereby acknowledged agreeable to a contract between the said
William Alexander and the said Nathan Bray on account of the assignment or
transfer of the right of said land unto the said Nathan Bray and the said
Nathan Bray and Caty Bray for themselves their heirs or assigns. The
bargain and sale doth hereby acknowledge unto all that track or parcel of
land situate in Pulaski County and the waters of buck creek containing by
survey 25 acres be the same more or less bounded as follows (towit)
Beginning at 3 poplar stumps near a walnut tree in Hargis field standing on
the line of the original survey thence North 30 West 63 poles to 2 dogwoods
in said original line thence South 72 West 43 poles to 2 black Oakes thence
South 10 East 77 poles to white Oak thence North 63 East 69 poles to the
Beginning Together with all and singular the premises with the
appertainances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining To have and
To hold the land hereby conveyed with the appertaining unto the said James
Hargis his heirs and assigns forever and the said Nathan Bray and his wife
Caty Bray for themselves their heirs Executors and administrators the
aforesaid tract of land and premises unto the said James Hargis his heirs
assigns against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons
claiming under them doth and will warrants and for ever defend this same
but no further and if the land should be lost by any latter or prior claim
the said James Hargis is to have no recourse on the said Brays, neither on
land nor on equity for the whole or any part of the purchase equity. Given

any three of them and they are hereby appointed to View the nearest and
Best way for a road Beginning at John Randolphs Mill on Buck Creek, to
Intersect the the Whitley Road near John Roper(?) and make report to the
Court of the Convencing and Inconvincing that will as to Individuals as to
the Public should said road be open
September Term 1835...p.48 Ordered that James Hargis be and he is hereby
appointed Surveyor of said Road and.........
Volume 5-B January Term 1842....More than thirty days having elapsed since
the death John Brinson decd & his widow having failed to apply for
administration on his estate. On motion of James Hargis ordered that he be
appointed administrator of the estate of Said John Brinson dec'd Whereupon
he took the oath required by law and with Lorenzo D. Phelps & Henry Warson
his securities are entered & acknowledged bond to the comlth of Ky in the
penalty of $200---conditioned as the law directs And on motion of James
Hargis adm of the estate of John Brinson decd ordered that Wm Bradley Esqr.
Thos S Clark Thos. Stogsdale & Wm Stogsdale or any three of them being
first duly sworn do inventory & appraise the personal property of slaves if
any, of which said John Brinson died seized & possessed

last Will and testamen of all my entirely estate to be divided as my will
may direct and not otherwise begining as follows to wit I will to my wife
Saley Hargis all of my estate durin her life time to do as She thinks best
with and at her deth I want hit devied amongs my 3 children as follows = I
will to my dauter Elizabeth Bradley the place where She now lives Contain 2
tracks or parsels land be the Same more or less and that the Said Elizabeth
Bradley pay to the Heirs of Berilan Price the just Same of fifty dollars
and no more--- To my Son William Hargis I will to him one track of land,
lines at the mouth of the long holler be the same more or less--- To my
Son Carrel Hargis I give to him the home place Cantaing four tracks or
parsels of land be the Same more or less and that the Said Carrel Hargis
pay to the Heirs of Berilas Price the just Same of one hundred dollars and
no more allso one set of blacks Smith tools then I give to Carrel Hargis
and that the heirs of Berilas Price is not to have any more of my estate
only the $150 dollars paid by Elizabeth and Carrel that is all I give to
them and I hereby appoint my Sons William Hargis & Carrel Hargis to carry
out this my last Will and testament

     David grew up in Orange Texas. He studied music in high school,taught
elementary school music for one year after finishing high school, then
went to University of Texas, where he majored in music and played in
the Longhorn band.
He left school to join the army for WWII, serving in army bands in
Portland Oregon and Jacksonville Beach Florida. He also served on
beach patrols on the Florida coast, and later learned to fly in the
Army Air Corps.
After the war, he returned to Texas. He played in the NBC Symphony
Orchestra, and in the orchestra of Toscanini. Taught band in
Sanderson Texas. He returned to University of Texas and finished
music degree. Taught band and chorus in Fredricksburg TX. Returned to
Orange, and worked in auto sales for Chevrolet dealer. In 1953, went
to Southerm Methodist University in Dallas to get Chartered Life
Underwriter certification. Worked in Insurance sales in Austin, Fort
Worth, and Corpus Christi until 1959.
After spending some time in the hospital, he returned to the
music teaching profession. He taught in Bandera TX, 1959-60. Ill
health kept him from working most of the next year, but he resumed
teaching in Bridge City TX for 1961-62. He taught at Little Cypress
High School in Orange from 62 until 1968. He then taught music in the
Beaumont schools for two years before retiring in 1970.

Whit aker (b 1904). They had a son named Arlis Lee Mounce (b 1928) in Bent KY. Everett had a prio r marriage to Sara Bray and had 5 children named Eddice Glen Mounce, Frankie L. Mounce, Ann a Lou, Marie and Dorthy Mounce - all from Somerset, KY. My dad Eddice, married and settled i n Norwood, OH. Dorothy and Marie are both now living in Indiana. Any relation to your Mounce?
