* I am concerned that Catherine is not listed as living with John and Euphemia in the 1860 Census when she would be about 16 years old. It raises the possibility that the John and Euphemia Hillegass listed in the Census records is a different couple than the parents of Catherine. However, since there are no other couples named John and Euphemia living in Pennsylvania at this time, and no Catherine Hillegas living anywhere in Bucks Co. in 1860 I assume that Catherine must just not have been staying with them for some reason during the Census or was simply missed in the count. Therefore, some of the information listed above rests on my assumption that the Census records are for Catherine's family.

** John and Euphemia appear to be living in separate households with different daughters but who live relatively close to one another. John appears to be living with daughter "Maria" although she, like Catherine, does not show up in any earlier census records.
