  1. Birth and death dates are based on the grave of "Magdalena, Wife of Joseph Raub" in the German Reformed Church of Durham in Bucks County graveyard. I assume these are the same people who had Reuben and Caroline Raub baptized there according to the Church's baptism records.
  2. The issue of which Magdalena married Joseph Raub is a difficult one. There are four brothers in Northampton Co. who had daughters of the right age to marry in 1823. Melchior and John had daughters named Magdalena. Isaac and Anthony had daughters named Maria Magdalena. Melchior and Issac's daughters were born in 1802. John's was born in April 1795.
My conclusion that Anthony is the father is based on the Research of Scott Wallace. He cites Orphans Court, Northampton Co. Courthouse, Easton, PA Book 12, pp. 224, 364 387, 414, 510, 543, 623, 641 and Book _, p. 21. for the following:
"On April 24, 1835, Anthony Transue Jr., eldest son of Anthony Transue Sr., filed a petition requesting partition and evaluation of his father's land in Williams Twp. so that distribution could be made to the heirs. The petition stated that Anthony Transue of Williams Twp. died intestate leaving a widow named Sarah and eight children, seven of whom are still living: Anthony the petitioner; David; John; Maria intermarried with Joseph Sterner; Magdalena intermarried with John Geasler; Mary intermarried with Joseph Raub; and Nancy."
Wallace notes that the petition appears to mix up the husbands of Magdalena and Mary since other records show both are married to the other man. His source info for sibling birth dates is not clear.
  3. Marriage record from the German Evangelical Lutheran Church of Easton (St. John's) in Northampton County, PA. Viewed on microfilm at the Pennsylvania Genealogical Society (Roll xx532 p. 86). It is corroborated by Sally Scheetz's recollection that "my grandfather's mother's name was Transue before marrying Reuben's father."
  4. Durham Lutheran Church in Bucks County baptism records. Microfilm record available at Pennsylvania Genealogical Society (Roll xx540) According to the Reuben's grave, he died on March 30, 1913, "Aged 81 y, 1 m & 4 days." This would make his birthday February 26, 1832, not Feb. 6. I am more inclined to believe the baptism record.
  5. Abraham Transue Census records: 1790, 1800, 1810, 1820
  6. 1830 Census
  7. 1840 Census
  8. 1850 Census Page One Page Two (Listed as "Mary") Caroline is listed is "20" even though Church records indicate she is 22 at the time of the Census. Similarly, Reuben is listed as "16" even though he should be 18 according to Church records. I suspect all the children are two years off but have left the original numbers

  10. 1870 Census (Listed as "Mary")
