Sources: This work is based on the research of Rick Swayne. I have not independently verified this except what is in the Census records listed below.

  1. Research by Rick Swayne. He cites birth and baptism records from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for birth dates and parents.Death year appears in several sources, but only one which may not be reliable gives the month and day.
  2. Swayne: The same source sites tax records that show he was a farmer and that he owned the property that later became the Raubsville Hotel from 3/22/1759-6/2/1811.
  3. Swayne cites records of the Augustus Evangelical Lutheran Church at Trappe, New Providence Twp., Montgomery Co., PA. He says the record appears to indicate that the ceremony did not take place in Trapp, but was only recorded there by the minister.
  4. Children's names and birth dates appears to cite a book by Robert A Raup: "A Genealogy of Selected Northumberland County Pennsylvania Pioneer Families". Such secondary sources are suspect.
  5. There are two Michaels with names resembling "Raub" living in the area during the time in question. One lived in Northampton Co. The other was in Bucks Co. Since Michael inherited land from Peter in what became Northampton Co. in 1750, I suspect he continued to live in Northampton. But because wives and children are not listed, nor are ages, it is difficult to say which is correct.
1790 Census (Michael Rope, Williams, Northampton)     1790 Census (Michael Rap, Bucks)
1800 Census (Michael Rab, Plainfield, Northampton)      1800 Census (Michael Raut, Springfield, Bucks)
1810 Census (Michael Rape, Plainfield, Northampton)     1810 Census (Michael Raud, Durham, Bucks)
  6. Swayne's source for sibling's names and birth dates is unclear.
  7. The Raub Report Page 1, Page 2, Page 3
  8. Swayne provides different dates for Michael's birth and baptism: b. Sep. 15, 1733 bap. April 28, 1734. It is unclear who is right. Also, the Raub Report indicates Michael may have died Nov. 19, 1791, but says is may have been 1816.
  9. Much of the information relating to Michael's children comes from another researcher's work: Descendants of Peter Raub. He cites some church records and records from the settlement of Michael's estate, but I have not reviewed any original sources. I have corroborated some pieces from other secondary sources. Another researcher providede the Estate info hopefully this is for the correct Michael Raub:
