  4. I found this note among Sally Scheetz's family history papers. Another paper indicates she took it out of "the German Bible" and believes it was written by Annie (Scheetz) Clymer or possibly Catherine (Hillegas) Scheetz.

  9. Unverified information from other researchers. Some of the information is consistent with census records.
  10. Pennsylvania German Church Records from the Pensylvania German Society Vol. III p. 506 "June 27, William Sheetz and Susanna Mary Ziegler." An earlier page notes these are marriages for 1852 performed by the Rev. John A. Strassburger.

* According to Susan Walters, there is a funeral record on August 16, 1886 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Trumbauersville, Pennsylvania at age "61 y 2 m 21 d". This would make William about a week older than the date we have for his birth.

** I have no specific information, but my inability to find anything about Mary beyond the 1870 Census leads me to believe she probably died as a young child. Her mother's 1900 Census record indicates that only 4 of her 5 children are still living. All the others were still alive. The note in fn.4 indicates only 4 of 5 still living. Based on its contents, it appears to have been written about the time of William's death in 1886.

*** The Scheetz History by Sally Scheetz mentions only three unnamed children who died young, but the notes in the Scheetz Bible seem specific on this point.
