Sources:

  1. According to the Scheetz Family History by Sally Scheetz, Wilson's father was killed in a quarry accident at a young age. This must have happened when he was a baby, or even before he was born since by the time he was four, his mother had remarried John Barndt and had given birth to his half-sister Bertha.
  2. Dates are from Barndt Notes found among the records of Sally Scheetz. I do not know the original source for this. Some dates have been corroborated from other sources. Others are at least consistent with census information.

* I did a search of Bucks and surrounding counties for any males names Schleiffer or any variations of that name who were between 15 and 30 years old and unmarried in the 1870 Census. Of those I found, only one, John Schleifer age 19 of Upper Saucon, Lehigh County, PA did not show up in the 1880 Census. John, the son of a farmer named John and his wife Caroline, could potentially be Wilson's father. However, this is just a guess and I have no corroboration for this guess.
