THE MURGITTROYD FAMILY ASSOCIATION |
The Story of an American Family
This site is designed as a meeting place for those people who can trace their family history to Joseph Murgittroyd of Claverack, NY at the time of the American Revolution. Joseph and his wife, Rachel Muller were the parents of six surviving children who formed the current branches of the Murgittroyd family. The Murgittroyd name is a rare spelling of the slightly more common, Murgatroyd, and has remained consistent in the family through nine generations. The birthplace of the name is undoubtedly the West Riding section of Yorkshire, England, near the Scottish border. |
|
We invite our kin with variant spellings of our surname such as Murgatroyd, Murgitroyd, Mergatroyd, and others to join us in hopes of one day uncovering more information about the origin and ancestry of Joseph Murgittroyd. |
