Battle of Kenesaw Mountain
-------------------------------------

Sylvanus Atwater was the usual correspondent to the Aledo Weekly Record on the participation of the 27th Illinois Infantry in major battles of the Civil War. He was wounded at the Battle of Kenesaw Mountain, Georgia, hence we find no letter from him. There was a lengthy letter however, signed "Uncle John," describing the exploits of both the 102nd and the 27th Illinois Infantry at Kenesaw Mountain. We are not sure of the identity of Uncle John and would be grateful if anyone can tell us who it was. The letter follows. It will be slow to load but we want it to be readable!
