MELROSE - John P. Hileman Jr., 84, of Melrose died Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at Windsor Manor in Starke following a brief illness.

Born in Lexington, Va., Mr.. Hileman moved to Melrose in 1977 from Jacksonville. He was a retired military aircraft mechanic and estimator and member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Melrose. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1934 through 1954 and was a member of Fleet Reserve Association. He retired as a service manager for Key Buick in Jacksonville.

Mr. Hileman is survived by: his wife Artice Evelyn Hileman of Melrose; two sons, Harry L. Hileman of Melrose and John P. Hileman III from Gainesville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Hileman were May 6, 2000 in Faith Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Melana Scruggs conducting the services. Interment was in Keystone Heights Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Keystone Heights.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
