June C. Rohrer

June C. Rohrer, 90, formerly of Union Township, passed away at 4:35 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, in Countryside Nursing Home, East Lackawannock Township, Mercer County.

Born June 11, 1918, in Hickory Township, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Rosezetta V. Umstead Cain.

She married W. Russell Rohrer on Sept. 17, 1947. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 2005.

Mrs. Rohrer worked as a secretary in the Lawrence County solicitor's office prior to her marriage.

She graduated in 1936 from the former Eastbrook High School and also graduated from New Castle Business College.

Mrs. Rohrer was a member of the former Harbor Presbyterian Church and most recently was a member of Shenango Presbyterian Church. She was active in church, serving at times as a Sunday school teacher, church treasurer and Bible school director.

She enjoyed gardening, bird watching and sewing, as well as baking for her family.

Mrs. Rohrer was also an American Field Service host mother.

Survivors include two daughters, Karla R. Snyder of Mercer and Tricia Warren of New Castle; a son, Richard K. Rohrer of Mercer; a sister, Rosetta Shingleton of Allentown; a family friend, Eldri Storhaug of Stavanger, Norway; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John L. Cain.

Visitation is 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St.

A service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. The Rev. Amy Na, pastor of Shenango Presbyterian Church, will officiate.

Burial will take place at Castle View Memorial Gardens.
