| Note* | Stockman Family Newsletter Vol 8 No 3 pg 39: Joseph Disponet 2nd son of Johann Jacob Disponet moved south from the Lower Shenandoah Valley where his parents had been killed, to Rockingham Co Va, skipping Shenandoah Co which lay between them. When he was about 20 he married someone who was the mother of his children, but her name has not survived. In 1791 he married Mrs Margaret Rust who was born in 1745 & died about 1802. Joseph died in 1797 in Rockingham Co; some say that all of his children were born there but no record has yet been discovered until 1773. His first child, Jacob, was born in 1764. It is probably no coincedence that the gap between the last 2 children covers a good part of the Revolution. Though no service record has been found, a great granddaughter recalled seeing a Revolutionary uniform in the home of a son of Joseph & tradition says that Joseph was in that War.
