Roberta M. “Peach” Firestone, 75, of Pottersdale, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Muncy. Born on September 24, 1941, in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Stella B. Moore Schmoke. She was married to Regis W. Firestone. He passed away in 2007.
Peach was a 1960 graduate of Cooper High School. She attended the Sheppard of the Hills Lutheran Church in Karthaus.
Peach drove a school bus for the West Branch Jr. & Sr. High School for over 30 years. She, along with her husband, own and operated the Firestone Market in Karthaus for many years. After the store closed, she went to work at the West Branch Jr. & Sr. High School in the janitorial department, retiring in 2009 after 10 years of service.
Peach was an excellent baker. She loved to treat people to her homemade pies. She had her pies requested from staff members at the Capitol in Washington DC. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, yard sales, and auctions. Peach wouldn’t hesitate, if she saw a flower in someone’s yard that she liked, to ask if she could have a piece to plant in her yard. She loved her flowers.
Peach is survived by her two sons; Thomas E. Schmoke of Pottersdale and Daniel A. Firestone of Blanchard and five grandchildren; Elizabeth Ishler, Logan Firestone, Rosana Ishler, Ryan Ishler, and Jacob Firestone.
Also surviving are her two brothers; Orville L. Schmoke of Clearfield, and Jan D. Schmoke of Pottersdale, and two sisters; Phoebe A. Borger of Moshannon and Charlene J. Schmoke of Rochester Mills, PA.
Along with her parents and husband, Peach was preceded in death by six brothers; James, Kline, William, Dean, Christy, and Levern and five sisters: Geneva Hess, Violia Teets, Rose Teets, Edna Summerson, and Violet Schmoke.
