News/Obit | 7 December 1962 | James H. Boyd was one of 37 men who died in an explosion of the Robena No. 3 mine in Kirby, PA on 6 Dec, 1962. It was thought the men may have survived and rescue operations began immediately. It was not until 5 days later that they reached the last of the miners only to find that none had survived. A group of articles flooded the local newspapers about the disaster. Included here are 3 page one stories about the incident including the inclusion of James as one of the missing miners.
