Fordyce Methodist Church member was area volunteer

Sarah E. Morris , 85, of Fordyce, died Thursday, March 26, 2009, in her home, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

She was born January 23, 1924, in Confluence, a daughter of William Scott Hostetler and Orpha Firestone Hostetler.

Mrs. Morris was a graduate of Jefferson High School.

On July 12, 1942, she married Jonathan Rex Morris , who died January 19, 2003.

Mrs. Morris resided most of her life in Fordyce, where she was a member of Fordyce Methodist Church.

She had worked as a seamstress at Greenway Manufacturing in Waynesburg and volunteered at Greene County Memorial Hospital and Bowlby Public Library in Waynesburg.

Mrs. Morris enjoyed painting, flower arranging and bowling.

A devoted mother and wife, she will be remembered for her kind and compassionate nature.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen (Bill) Miller of Winter Haven, Fla.; a son, John R. (Bonnie) Morris of Waynesburg; two grandchildren, Rebecca and Jonathan Morris ; two sisters, Verna Lutz of Salisbury and Edith Griedel of Natrona Heights; a brother, Bill Hostetler of Saxe, Va.; and an aunt, Mary Oakey of Fredericksburg, Va.

She also leaves her devoted caregiver and friend, Robin St.Clair.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Behm Funeral Home, 182 West High Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 30, with Pastor James Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Garards Fort Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Greene County, 183 Jefferson Road, Waynesburg, or the Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Avenue, Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Condolences may be expressed online at www.behmfuneralhomes.net.
