Miss Billie Claire Mason, formerly of Snyder, became the bride of Thomas N. Browning of Plainview Aug. 30 in the First Baptist Church of Crystal City, Tex.

The Rev. and Mrs. J. William Mason of Crystal City are the bride’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Browning of Plainview are parents of the bridegroom.

Miss Mason was given in marriage by her father, who also read the ceremony. Mr. Mason was pastor of First Baptist Church of Snyder, from 1945 to 47.

Altar decorations were wrought iron floor baskets filled with asters and fern. Five candelabra with white cathedral tapers, small palm and huckleberry fern completed the setting.

The bride's gown was of candlelight satin and lace. The fitted bodice of lace was appliqued to sheer net yoke, which was encrusted with pearls and silver bugle beads. Long sleeves came to a point over her wrists, and the voluminous skirt of satin fell into a cathedral length train. Her veil of illusion was attached to a croonet of lace and orange blossoms. She carried a white Bible topped with a white orchid.

Miss Mary Jo Petty of Franklin, Tex., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Mary Mount of Crystal City and Mrs. James Short of Uvalde. Adonna Lea Post was flower girl. Attendants wore rose net and satin dresses and carried crescent - shaped bouquets of asters.

Jean Browning of Plainview served as best man for his brother. Michael Gillanwater was ring bearer, and Harold Shannon and Pete Fugulaar were groomsmen.

A reception in the Mason home followed the wedding. Mrs. Myron Roe, 3107 Avenue U, assisted at the punch bowl.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Browning are 1947 graduates of Snyder high school. The bride received her master’s degree from Baylor University in June, and Mr. Browning is to receive a bachelor’s degree from Howard Payne College in January.

After a wedding trip to New Orleans the couple is at home in Brownwood where Mr. Browning has resumed his studies.

Attending the wedding with Mrs. Roe were Mr. Roe, Rose Marie and Jerry.
