Sorry folks, but this guestbook got partially eaten. I suppose it got too big. I had a backup dated Nov 20, 1996 - best I can do. If anyone saved a copy since then I would love to have the missing pieces as we have lost Nov 20, 1996 to Mar 19, 1997. :-(

Just beginning my Harrison search and found your great website! Thank you so much for all the work you've done. I'm looking for Edward Harrison of Jones County, NC born about 1780, wife Prudence also born about 1780.

Just saw your fine looking page. Although I have just started the search for distant family members, it looks like this is going to be a very interesting hobby. I got the latest version of Family Tree Maker from Boarderbund for Christmas and am in the process of entering the data I have collected. So far, I can trace a Grandmother back to the 1600s (cool). I work at The University of Alabama at Birmingham and my e-mail at work is [email protected] - Nice visiting your site!

Great site! I, Patrick Bogan, and many kin are trying to tie our gr. gr. gr. grandfather, William Patrick Bogan (once was Boggan) to other Union co. S.C. Boggans or Bogans. We believe that he was the son of John & Jane ? Bogan and brother to Isaac Bogan. William died in Augusta, Ga. built the first Inn in Georgia in Augusta, d. June 16, 1816. M. Elizabeth Denson abt. 1774 in Anson Co. S.C.. I have a recent photo taken by a cousin of John and Isaac Bogan's grave stones in Bogansville Meth. Ch. cemetery. Isaac's stone shows he married Easter Farrar. Your page here shows Easter Mcelroy. ?? Anyway, going back from here it gets fuzzy. We believe that we all came from John Boggan of Ireland, m. to Guinever Madison. One of their sons, Patrick Boggan, b. abt. 1696 in Ireland, d. in 1756, Orange Co. So. Car.., m. Margaret? We just cannot definately tie John, Isaac and William to any one for sure going back We think maybe William Boggan of Donegal, Ulster Ireland, b. abt. 1698, d. Mar. 07,1762 in Berkley Co. S.C., m. Elenor Graham, and had John Bogan, father of Isaac and William Bogan. You can find much of this info on Earl Bogan's web page . Please e-mail me any info you may have going back prior to the above and I will help anyone I can on surname Bogan, Boggan, Brogdon, Moore, McJunkin. My gr. father, Jacob Washington Bogan, moved to Texas in 1873 from Cedar Bluff, Ala., settled in Mineola, Texas where he worked in a general store, was co. clerk, and later bought 76 acres on outskirts of town and farmed, raised cattle etc.., retired at 85, sold farm and finally passed away at 99 years, 5 mos. & 9 days. His father, Shadrick Bogan, ran an Inn in Georgia called "hog mountain House". He built a gristmill on Ivy creek near state hwy 20 and interstate I-85. Later sold it, then was commissioned to build a road from Lawrenceville, Ga. to the Gwinnett Co.. line which he did with help from people he hired. The mill was still standing abt. 15 years ago, burned by vandals we think, belonged to the Woodward family for over 100 years. I have visited the site, the wheel is still there. Shadrick built it abt. 1820, made of cypress wood, did not readily rot. Will close for now. HELP1 Pat Bogan

Great site!!! I am looking for Harrisons with ties to Onslow Co.,NC. My great grandfather x4 was a Joseph Harrison b. there in 1783. His father's name was John. In addition to the Harrison surnames, I am also researching ancestors with the following surnames: Price, Carter,Ross, Sumner, Fortner, Forbes, Gregory, Moye,Gardener,Wheeler,Taylor,Weeks,MCGuire(McGira),Martin,New, Wood,Raiford, Smith,Colby,Henry, Chester,Barber,Jenkins, Frost, Bedengfield, Johnson, Oglesby, Sherrod, Wiggins,Aaron, Lane, Miller, Roberts,Bennett, and Kent. It is my knowledge that the majority of these families were first in VA. Most migrated then to NC, and most came to GA. Colby is an exception; the ancestor was definately from Mass. I can trace a few on these families back to Europe. If anyone would like to check on a possible connection, please get in touch!

I have the mid. name as he did. My grand father is Ralph Lammar Harrison, and my father is Jimmy Lammar Harrison. We all live here in GA. I still have Great Uncles living. I might talk to them to see who was my great grandfathers dad, and to see if they know who his father was. Thanks very much for having this site so people like me can find out about thier past. I strongly believe that you do not know where you are going untill you you know where you have been. Hi, I am working on the stanley, Hutchins, lines. Also all of the lines that are tied into them. I am wondering if you have what I have on those lines. I have the Thomas Stanley (ca. 1662) as being married to a Mary Holme. I had Thomas's father being Edward? I really don't know if that is true. I have some notes saying it does, but never checked it out. The Edward Stanley line goes into the Royal Families so mine might not be right. The reason that I thought that it might be right was because of surname that was married in to the stanley's was a surname of Strange. Strange is kind of different and the Hutchin line married into the Stanley line and one of the Hutchins names was a Strangeman Hutchins. So I thought that the information could be right??? Anyway, I would like to know a little about that and also if you have any information on Charity Williams who married into the Hutchins family. She was born about 1776 in Va. She moved to Arkansas. Well, I have sure spouted off here. Better quit. Thank you Dave Lee

Hats off to the lady with the fabulous web site! Many, many thanks for posting all your research. I was able to tie up several "twigs" on my husband's family tree by connecting names and dates with your excellent references on the PENDLETON and TAYLOR surnames. I've visited your site several times, and wanted to be sure you knew how grateful we were for your generosity! If any of your readers believe that your lines may have a tie to their GEORGIA or SOUTH CAROLINA ancestors by the names in your surname list, I'd be happy to see if I can make something click. We don't have a homepage (yet-- this is our 1998 New Year's resolution), but our files are in Family Tree Maker and may be of use to someone who's "stuck". Thanks again, mesdames Bonner and Bass!

Great site. I am tracing my family history. Both my parents are from Arkansas. I have traced my mother's side back through Arkansas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and maybe Virginia. Her family name is Prevett. I have traced back to a William Prevett of Iredell County North Carolina, who died in 1797. I think the heritage goes back to England, possibly to Williams father or grandfather who was also named William or possibly John, and they came from Bristol England. Any help prior to 1797 would be appreciated. Bob

We always thought her father was Greenwood Harrison because he was "Surety" on their marriage certificate in Mecklenburg Co.,VA Now I see that he was her brother and the father was James Mason Harrison (Born 1742). The source is listed as George Edgar Harrison, Crossville, TN. How can I get in touch with him for more info and to correct the errors? Great site, I only wish I had more time to read your guestbook. Concerning your ancestor Joseph Miller who, according to your note, was a member of the Washington Artillery of New Orleans, you could learn much about him and his service record, along with information on the Washington Artillery of New Orleans, from Confederate Memorial Hall on Camp Street in New Orleans. Also, Jackson Barracks Museum in New Orleans, home of the 141st National Guard Unit known as the Washington Artillery, most likely will have much information to help you along in knowing more about him and his unit. I love the layout of your page, complete with music and graphics. Keep up the great work. We're seeking information on the Couts/Kautz. We were Americanized Germans in the mid 1750. We have names like: Dietrich, Christian, Johannes,& Brolle. They typically moved from Berks Co. PA to the Shenandoah Valley in VA, circa 1756 and moved on to KY and TN, post Rev. War. Good hunting to you. Barb

Looking for ancestors of Francis Harrison, born in England in 1787 and came to America as a young man and settled in Georgia. He was a prominent person in Wayne County for many years and was a Justice of the Peace in either Glynn or Wayne County. He married Annis Manning. One source ("Our Kin", by A.E. Manning) says that Francis left England because he disagreed with a war that England was engaged in, and that he changed his name from Fletcher to Harrison.

I am sure I am descended from Turner Harrison who married Sarah. I think Turner is Jesse Harrison's son. He was the administrator of Jesse's estate in Davidson Co NC. A family bible from my Harrison line has the names Bethel and Pare in it. These names have been given to many descendants. Thomas and Rebecca Bethel's daughter, Rebecca married William PARE. Their son, Bethel PARE, had two (at least) daughters that married HARRISON men. But I need some help filling in the blanks.

OOPS, I completely left out a generation: correct the line that begins with: Willie's father Jeremiah was born in Jenkins County, Georgia and he moved to Emanuel County with Michael around 1860. I am just learning the trials and tribulations of trying to tie together poorly remembered family tales and make them fit the facts I am finding. Both of my parents and their siblings are dead and the search is almost entirely on paper. My father (William Jacob Hooks) was born in Emanuel County, Georgia as was his father Willie Jacob Hooks. Willie's father Michael moved to Emanuel County from Jenkins County sometime around 1860. It appears that Michael's father was William Hooks and he may have been born in Maryland. At that point things get really muddy because Coy Johnson's book about the Hooks in Virginia and Ruth Stultz's Hooks Family Chronicles identify this William as a product of Virginia via North Carolina. I expect I will know a lot more than I understand after I chase this around a few corners. Any suggestions?

Looking for any and all information on James Harrison born in 1870's or 80's. Middle name could be Benjamin, Edward, or Edwin. He married Marzella May McHenry, born 24 May 1886, daughter of Thomas Jefferson McHenry. He died in or around 1940 in Oklahoma. His children were from oldest to youngest: James Elmer Harrison (my grandfather, born 12 April 1913, in Indianapolis, IN) Raymond Dwight, Gordon Daniel, and twins who died in 1918: Alfred Thomas and Alvin Francis. A brother of the elder James could be Daniel Harrison. Father of elder James could be John Henry Harrison or Charles Jacob Harrison. Charles Jacob Harrison could also be an uncle. Family tradition has it that we are descended from Pres. Wm. H. Harrison. Really enjoying your home page and have perused through the voluminous archives. Reference Elizabeth Lindsay, daughter of James Lindsay and Jean (a.k.a. Jane) McCants Lindsay: she married twice after the death of her mother, i.e., after 1813. Robert Martin, Sr., was not her husband, as reported here. It appears that Robert Martin, Sr., married a daughter of Janes and Jean Lindsay, but that daughter has not been positively identified. She was reported to be "Nancy" Lindsay in some DAR applications. The wife/widow of Robert Martin appears to have deceased prior to 1813, when Jean/Jane Lindsay wrote her will. For information about the marriages of Elizabeth Lindsay, contact me via E-Mail.

The amount of genealogical information you have assembled is extraordinary. My primary line of research is my Fauver ancestry, and I learned a couple of details from your files that astonish me. The southern Fauvers all seem to descend from a Benjamin Fauver who moved from Greene Co., GA, about 1789 to Natchez area of MS and then to Spanish LA (Feliciana) c. 1810 or before. I would greatly appreciate any help with his earlier history, and I would appreciate comments on theory that the name began as Schmidt, was Latinized to Faber and then changed to its present form in NJ/PA area in mid-1700s.

Just arrived and like what I see so far. Takes awhile to go from place to place but I guess I'll just have to get a faster PC. I would rather see just the information listed without all the graphics. When I'm doing research it slows me down! I'm trying to research the McCurdy Family and have been unable to get my maternial grandfather's date and place of birth and date and place of death. Everyone says I need this information to find him, or I will have to go to the town I think he was born in a do some research. His name was Allen Lester McCurdy (fact)and lived in Pottstown, Pa.(fact) and was married (Dec.21,1929)to Pearl Elizabeth (Maiden name-Fox) of Pottstown, Pa.(fact) Had a son Richard Allen McCurdy b.10 March 1931 in Pottstown, Pa.(fact). If anyone could help me find this information I would be greatful. Thank you!

I was impressed by the extent of your genealogy data. I was looking for a James Harrison born in 1845 , probably in western or mid Pa. He married Ann Gregg who was born on 1846. I did not find any data on these two in your files. These to people were the parents of Harry H. Harrison, who was my wife's grandfather. Thanks Jack McCright

Hello, I am currently in the process of searching the history of my Greatgrandfather's family. His name was Robert Moreland Crowe. He was born in Lanarshire, Scotland on 11-16-1893. I know that he left his family behind to come to the U.S. unsure of date or his age but he did marry in Chicago, Illinios at the Moody Memorial Church on 7-14-1926 marrying Mary Perry of Ireland. They had two children, Allen and Robert Crowe. Robert is my father and is still living. My Uncle was a race car driver - competing in such races as the Indianapolis 500 - however he was killed during a race leaving behind three daughters and wife Jonita. I will be traveling to Scotland during the first parts of next year and have been told by my Grandmother Crowe that she was contacted years ago out of the blue by one of my Grandfathers, brothers - daughters and her son. Both of his brothers are deceased. I believe there names were George and Thomas. I do not know the name of woman that contacted my grandmother some 5-10 years ago nor do I know the name of her son. Contact stopped when she was brought to California to reside with my father for remainder of her life. Due to her current age of 92 years it is difficult for her to remember much and she has not been able to identify these people. If you read this and for whatever reason know anything about this family, please E-Mail to me so as I can correspond with you. Thank you - I hope to hear from someone!!!

You have names in your data base that I am looking for, although I've checked them and I don't find any connection. The names are McGhee or McGehee and Spurlin, My grandmother was Claudia Elizabeth McGhee and my grandfather was Jesse V. Spurlin. They were both from Arkansas. I also had an aunt named Mary Spurlin, but her maiden name was Seaborn. It seems like a strange coincidence. It's good of you to put these names on the Internet to help others. Thanks!

I am related to Richard Harrison of Cheshire, Eng. , born 25 Oct. 1653. I'm not sure from the info that I have, but he may have been the same as Sgt. Richard Harrison, son: Joseph, son: Richard, son: Uzal, son: Aaron R. d.1866, who in 1833 moved from Orange, NJ to Delaware Co., OH, son: George Smith Harrison, d. 1907, son: George Elwyn Harrison, d. 1939 in Asheville, NC and thus through his daughter Ethel Harrison, who married Hall. Interestingly, the Binghams from Sheffield, Yorkshire, 17th C., and the decendents of Myles Standish of the Mayflower come into our part of the Harrison line with the marriage of Eliza Ann Hunt and George Smith Harrison when they married in 1848. I am looking for ancestors who fought in the American War for Independence and the Southern War for Independence. As for the Colonial army, I can trace back to one Capt. John Condit, 2nd NJ Regt. (anyone have info?), otherwise that's it. Thanks! Great website!

I am trying to find out some information on my Harrison Family History. My g-grandfather was John Rolcen Harrison born 11-27-1853. From there the line is lost. My gg-grandfather was Amos Lee Harrison born in VA. about 1825. I can find no proof of this. I was told by a great Aunt that his last name was really Hale (Hail, Hejl, and others) he got into some kind of trouble. He left VA. and went to Ashe Co., NC and came back a Harrison. I have nothing to prove this either. If anyone out there has any info please send e-mail. I love the web site.

I just got e-mail through work last week and don't yet know enough to even figure out my e-mail address, but this genealogy information sure is addictive! My mother's mother was Josephine Harrison Kallmeyer (b. about 1910, d. 1982) and her father was named William Henry Harrison. I believe he was a painter by profession. He married Minnie Schmidt and died young--I believe he was in his 30's. Their family lived in the Cincinnati, OH/Northern KY area. Supposedly, I am somehow related to William Henry Harrison, the President, but I don't know how. I am anxious to delve further into your resources and look for possible links. Any information would be appreciated. My home address is 60 Crowell Ave., Ft. Thomas, KY 41075. Thanks for creating such an informative page!

I've thoroughly enjoyed browsing your website and have spent far too much time here for one evening! I'm a novice at all this genealogy stuff and your website's been one of the most interesting ones I've come across. I've even discovered a little more about my g-g-grandfather's sister's family (Nora Tabitha CRAIG HARRISON's family...sister of Reuben M. CRAIG). I only wish that you had more info about the CRAIG family from Limestone Co. Alabama (can't find anything about the origins of Miles Sanderson "Asbury" CRAIG--Reuben and Nora's father!)

I lucked onto your page sometime back and noticed the Golightly and Patillo (modern spelling in Scotland is Pattullo) names. Started clicking around and before was thru was back to about 14 greats on the Harrisons, some 8 on Daniel, picked up one on Golightly. Do notice that you have the Patillo's as originating in Spain. The name is originally and still is Scottish. Robert Pattillo (different spelling) mustered men for the war on European mainland in about 1423/4. So distinguished himself was naturalized as Lord Sauveterre or something like that, and in the ensuing 260 years or so, his family lived France just north of the Spanish border as tradition goes. After the Edict of Nantes was revoked and the persecutions began anew, George Pattillo escaped over the channel back to relatives in Scotland, near Dundee. This is where Rev Henry(my 6th great), his brothers George and William were born. George and Henry immigrated to America, William stayed. There is another Harrison line that I have not connected thru the Shands family, and the Comins(Cummings?) family. Shands Family Vol I, and Patillo(various spelllings) by Melba Crosse contains the majority of the information on the Shands/Pattillo families with references to the Harrisons. The Lost Tribes of North Carolina, by Worth Ray, is another good reference for Harrision. Sorry to be so long winded, but y'all know how genealogy is!! THE PAGE IS GREAT!!!

: Hello, my name is Paul Harrison. I live in Romance, Arkansas. I am attempting to research my family geneology. The last link that I have is a Joseph or Joe Harrison, who lived in Kentucky. He was married to Euguena (or something simular to that) Morgan. They had 4 children : George Madison, born 19 Feb 1890, Loyd or Larval, Bertha, and Charlie Thomas born July 30 1892 and died Aug 3 1959. Charlie Thomas is my Ggrandfather. He moved to Arkansas and married Ludie Analee Townsend. They had 7 children : Elmo Delbert (my grandfather) born Dec 18 1916, Robert Doyle, Denzel, Iver Aleene, Verna Lee, and Wanda Odeene. The last 3 are sisters, and they are not listed in order of birth. He died in California on Aug 3, 1959. Ludie's parents were James or Jim Townsend and Mattie Murdough(not sure on this spelling). James died in Little Rock from TB and Mattie married my uncle George Madison Harrison, Charlie's brother. So he married his sister in law's mother. So he was my grandfather's uncle and step-grandfather. If you are any relation or have any knowledge of these family members, please let me know. If not, thank you for your time. Also, I have tried to post this on your BBS, but I must have done something wrong. I did get a post out there on Charlie Harrison, but I have gathered more info since then. I think it is really neat how you have put so much time and effort into your BBS. I wish I had the time and resources to work on it like that. Please respond even if you do not have any info for me.
