"Samuel Bondurant was the eldest son of Darby and Lucy Hall Bondurant. His forefather, John Pierre Bondurant, was a physician from Genolhac, France who arrived in Virginia in 1700 with the first of the French Huguenot emigrants. Samuel and brother Thomas Bondurant inherited 400 acres of land from their father on Sharp's Creek in Buckingham County, Va. making them neighbors of Francis Walker. Samuel married Francis Walker's youngest child, Rebecca, and his brother Thomas married Francis' granddaughter, Mary Ann Moseley."

He received several parcels of land beginning in 1765. John Packer is the only Packer in the 1790 South Carolina Census, and his household shows two males over 16, three under 16, and four females. An old map of So. Carolina that was reprinted in the Bicentenial Edition shows a McCants family living across Lynche's Creek from the Packer family. Sons are probably Thomas, Robert, and Samuel.
