"On 21 April 1676 Robert Bishop of the Parish of Farnham,
County of Rappahannock, VA wrote his Will, proved on 6 June 1677
in which is does not mention a wife or child. He mentions land,
which he bought from Henry Newberry (Awbury) which he devised to
John Gregory, Jr. He also appoints John Gregory, Jr. as
executor. His witnesses were Thomas Wheeler, John Garner
(Games?) and John Burnett. He also wrote a codicil to the will
dated 24 May 1676 (same witnesses) in which he mentions his
brother-in-law John Jones, presumably his nephew John Jones, Jr.
(“when he comes of age”) and “John Gregory’s pen.”
Note: Since there is no evidence that this Robert Bishop was
married, I assume that his sister married John Jones.
On 18 Feb. 1673/74 John Pigg and Thomas Hall received a land
patent in New Kent Co., VA (Patent Book 6, page 502). One of
the headrights was Robert Bishoppe.
On 3 September 1669 Henry Awberry received a land patent of 480
acres in Rappahannock Co., VA, joining the land of Awberry,
Posrahian (Piscataway ?) Creek (Patent Book 6, page 245). This
may or may not be the 480 acres involved in the Robert Bishop
and John Gregory, Jr., Wills. This 480 acres was patented to
James Taylor on 21 Oct. 1687. (Patent Book 7, Page 596)."
"James Taylor of New Kent County 10/21/1687 744 acres
