"There are, I believe, four main families that generate most
interest in American genealogy. This is primarily because they
figure amongst the earliest pioneer settlers of America. Proving
which British line they descend from has proved to be a long and
difficult task and only John Ballard of Nansemond can be
considered as a provable pedigree at this time.
John Weisner is preparing a source book relating to early
Ballards in America, in the process of which he has effectively
disproved the hitherto published accounts of links to English
sources. John and I are actively working on trying to establish
these links and hope to produce reports of our progress on the
Ballard-L mailing list in due course." from:
