Will Written 3 Feb 1726; Will Recorded 27 Mar 1727 Isle Of Wight
Co. VA.
Ann Lawrence married Jeremiah Exum,who was one of the justices
of the county court of Isle of wight in 1693-94.he made his will
Sept.3,1712, and died in 1720.(Great book 2,page 21) Ann
Lawrence Exum made her will, Isle of Wight, Feb.23,1726/27 and
it was recorded march 27,1727.(W.B. 3page19).Others mentioned in
will of Ann Lawrence Exum were granddaughters Katoren Godwin and
Ann Murphy;also grandson jeremiah Lawrence . Dates in Historical
Southern Families Vol.1 page 182-183 by John Bennett Boddie
1958. Ann made her will on 3 February 1726/27 and it was
recorded in Isle of Wight County, Virginia on 27 March 1727.
In her will she mentions daughter Elizabeth, grandaughter
Katoren Godwin, grandson Jeremiah Lawrence , grandson Exum
Scott, grandaughter Ann Murfry, grandson Richard Exum Outland,
daughter Mary Mackquinny, daughter Jane Outland, daughter
Mourning Scott and her children, daughter Christian Norsworthy,
my deceased daughter Sarah's children. Ex. son-in-law William
Scott.
Witnessed by Thomas Sikes, James Denson, and Henry Sanders.
Ann -X- Exum, of Isle of Wight County , will of, Dated Feb 3,
1726. Gives to her
daughter Elizabeth, a large walnut table and a chest, the bigest
and two least
pots and two pair of Iron Pots Racks, that stand by it, and my
great Bible,
and three iron potts and all the woodenware and materials, as
pails, tubbs,
trays, and spinning wheels of wood that belong to the kitchen,
and all my
sheep and the eighth part of my corn. Lends to daughter
Elizabeth a negro boy
Joe for 10 years if she lives so long; to her granddaughter
Katherine Godwin a
gold ring; to her grandson Jeremiah Lawrence to the value of
thirty shillings;
grandson Exum Scott to the value of thiery shil.; grandson
Richard Exum
Outland, my silver…….? & a small chest.; grandsons Jeremiah
Lawrence , Exum
Scott and Richard Exum Outland the above mentioned negro boy Joe
after 10
years service or the death of her sd daughter Elizabeth;
granddaughter Ann
Murfrey, a bed tick, bolster tick, rug & pr. Sheets; the
remainder of her
estate to her five daughters, viz: Mary Macking (Mackquinney),
Elizabeth Exum,
Jane Outland, Mourning Scott, Christian Narsworthy and the
children of
testators daughter Sarah. Executor, son-in-law William Scott.
