Hi! I am Patricia DePriest King and continue to work on the
DePriest family history. They originated in VA in 1689 with the
birth of William DePriest in New Kent Co. William m. Judith
-------? and d. 1738 leaving seven children.
Judith ? Depriest married a John Hodges ca 1749. This was
apparently a 2nd marriage for him and I don't know if there were
any children from that marriage. They were in Goochland Co.,
VA, until about 1750-55 and then I have found a record that John
Hodges was approved to run a ferry in Chesterfield Co., VA.

He served in the Confederate Army in Co. B, 1st (Orr's) Rifles
and was killed in action in the battle of Cold Harbor (Gaine's
Mills). He was buried under the confederate Monument at
Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, VA.
According to a map that I copied from the book
"Gregg's-McGowan's SC Brigade 1862-1865 by J.F.J. Caldwell..
First Orr's Rifles Co B & G was from Abbeville SC, from the book
"Abbeville Co" by Lester Ferguson I find that Wm C Round from Co
B Orr's Rifles was killed at Gaines Mill."
