1. Goochland County Order Book # 1, page 47. Nov 1728: Richard Powell is a defendant in a suit brought by James Turner.
2. Goochland County Order Book # 2, page 26: Richard Powell petioned to be added to the list of tithables in Goochland County, VA.
3. Albemarle County Ordr Book, 1744-48. page 364: Records the patent by Richard Powell for 283 acres of land lying on the Bufalo River in Albermarle County.
4. Amherst County Order Book "A", page 202, dated 7 May 1764. Richard Powell sold to Jacob Smith 200 acres which lies on PuppiesCreek for 25 pounds.
5. Amherst County Order Book "A". pasge 216. Richard Powell bought 244 acres for 120 pounds from Micajah Moorman.It also states that is is part the land being granted to Edward Lynch, including 250 acres adjoining the same, the whole containing 494 acres and being in the county of Albermarle, now Amherst, on the North side of the Fluvanna River (now called the James) The next entry in the book is a deed from Moorman granting title to Edward Lynch for the rest of thel and,
6. Amherst County Will Book # 1, page 257, dated 25 Jan 1766, proved 4 Apr 1774. Records the Last Will and Testament of Richard Powell.


He appears in 1758 among the residents of Albemarle County, VA who furnished supplies in the French and Indian Wars (See Hening 7, page 203). He also served in Captain Ellis' company of the Albemarle Militia (See VA Magazinw, Vol 23, page 176)."
